My thoughts on preseason wk 3

I see someone found an opportunity to pull their soapbox out for the umpteenth time

 

I didn't falsely accuse you of anything. I'm preemptively pointing out that I didn't start this and I'm far from the only one escalating it.

Of course, what is happening two years later doesn't change the fact that Harris was better all three years they were together, and that letting him go cost the team resources that could have been better deployed elsewhere.

Those were the arguments I made, which are undoubtedly true.

 

Multiple someones stepped onto their soapboxes, but only one owns space in the old man's head.

 

Steelers drafted a big steam roller (Najee) and then stuck him behind zone run blocking. That's smart stuff.

 

The fact that Harris has been “meh” elsewhere kinda points towards the system not mattering. He’s simply too slow. Strongly suspect the same with Johnson. Their just not dynamic enough athletes for the current NFL.

 

Just take a look at the RB production we have gotten since Najee left. Not saying anything good or bad toward Najee. But, just look at the RB production since he left.


No need to want to bring him back that I can find.

 

I was right about plenty. The Steelers felt Harris was the better back when they had both, which is why he started every game while getting more snaps and touches than Warren. They did what they thought gave them the best chance to win.

I was right that it cost them their third-round pick last year, who then turned out to be a terrible bust.

I was right that there were factors beyond who had been better at play in their decision to move on, such as the mileage on his body and the way he ran his mouth about running backs needing to get paid.

The only thing I got wrong was underestimating Gainwell, who mitigated their failed attempt to replace Harris.

 

I wouldn't know since he had only 15 carries for 61 yards, and 3 receptions for 25 yards before he tore his Achilles. I believe thats over 4 yards a carry, and over 8 yards a reception. We shall see if he can come back from the torn Achilles, or not.
This is not in anyways a slight on Warren.
I love Warren, but I do completely agree with @Formerscribe that they should have signed his 5th year option, and used their draft elsewhere, and then let him go.

 

Spoken like someone who can't handle the facts being against his argument. What they are now is not what they were two years ago. You know that, and you know this argument dates back to before Harris's final year as a Steeler, but you ignore those facts because they don't fit your inaccurate narrative.

 

I'm not dancing around your opinion, which doesn't fit the facts.

Warren never overtook Harris. Harris started every game they played together. He got more snaps and more touches. Harris was the player they liked better. Warren was the one who had more tread left on the tires and less attitude.

Your argument is built on the ridiculous notion that they started Harris, gave him more snaps, and gave him more touches despite liking Warren better. That would mean they hurt their chances to win because...why exactly? Because Tomlin liked him? Because they wanted to save face? Those things went out the window when they didn't pick up his option, so the only thing that makes sense is that the Steelers believed Harris gave them the better chance to win.

The rest is you trying to win an argument you lost a long time ago.
