Browns might actually be keeping four quarterbacks: Dillon Gabriel appears to make the 53-man roster
The Browns currently have four quarterbacks on their roster in Deshaun Watson, Shedeur Sanders, Dillon Gabriel and rookie Taylen Green.

Teams almost never keep four quarterbacks so there has been some speculation that Cleveland might move on from Gabriel or Green, but right now, that doesn't appear to be the case. According to ESPN, Gabriel has been told that he's going to be on the 53-man roster, so he'll be joining Watson and presumably Sanders, but who knows, the Browns have done crazy things before at QB, so let's not completely rule out the possibility of them trying to trade Sanders.

And then there's Green. The 2026 fifth-round pick is a raw talent, but he's one of the most athletic quarterbacks in the NFL and you'd think the Browns would want to keep him around to try and develop them, but you never know. At this point, it seems like Green's future with the team is up in the air.

I think this at least reframes the debate about simply winning with Tomlin's players vs recrafting the team in his image. Two recent draft picks from the Tomlin/Kahn era traded away with some very interesting cuts coming by later today.

 

I think the deal has already been made with a handshake.

Roberts doesn't need to clear waivers, so the Steelers can let him know to sit tight and they will resign him when they put a 53-Man roster player on IR tomorrow.

I hope not, I was under whelmed by him. I'd rather see Eli be a Swiss army knife player than hold onto Homer. Homer seemed like the 2026 equivalent of the third Edmunds brother.

 

If he stays as RB3 it will be because he's the personal protector on special teams. Maybe Lew and Eli make it to the practice squad.

 

If Roman Wilson keeps running bad routes, could we see MVS back with the Steelers.

 

Yup. He's not a good running back. He is a very good special teams player.

 

I get the sarcasm but also wish Thielen didnt retire because I think with Metcalf, Pittman, Thielen and GB would have been a thing to see.

 

Could we see them trade Mason back to the Titans? I don't know who they have backing up Ward at the moment.

Does or did anyone see why Steelers cut Elandon Roberts. Look to me like he was playing well.

 

I have a feeling they are going to re-sign him later. There are some financial advantages for the team to cut him and then sign him back.

I guess we'll both find out pretty soon.
