Reports are that Kaleb Johnson has been traded to the Packers....... compensation unknown at this time.....
Looks like Josh Jacobs and his antics bailed us out

Possibly the worst 3rd rounder I can remember, and I've seen Roman Wilson being praised as the new messiah for 2 years.

So far, I like what McCarthy and Khan are doing.

If a player doesn't fit the system or doesn't appear to be the future for the team, they are moving on from that player and getting compensation for them while they can.

It's hard to argue with this. I wanted Johnson to do well, but he really hasn't shown much to this point. I wish him well in Green Bay and hope he becomes something there.

Liffort Hobley came to mind, but he actually played 84 games in the NFL after the Steelers drafted him and cut him before the season in 1985.

Mid-80s is my wheelhouse, when I first became a true football junkie. That 1985 draft was an utter disaster, from first-round bust Daryl Sims all the way on through. The best player was probably Dan Turk, who bounced around primarily as a long snapper until 1999.

Nice to get a trade done.

My guess is that it's probably a late round pick swap or something.

It was amazing how quickly things turned on him. He went from steal of the draft and being untouchable in OTA's last year to basically Mr irrelevant after the Seahawks game and his failure to even generate a 1 yard average in limited snaps. Im not big on revenge per say but I'd totally use some of these beat writers own quotes against them on the topic. Then go after the Beanis Bishop supporters before hitting the Dylan Cook is better than Steve Hutchinson or Joe Thomas ever was crowd.

If the return is only a conditional seventh that vests if Kaleb Johnson actually makes the 53, that’s basically free lottery-ticket insurance. He has no value to the 2026 Steelers.

No value to the Steelers but good for half a season worth of clickbait articles by the quote unquote press. Im sure somebody who took a journalism 101 course at Clarion will love to write about how he was a bad pick.

Crazy that a player of his talent couldn't do more here. Glad to see they got something for him.

This guy made more guys miss in one run than Kaleb did in two years with the Steelers .

I got excited when we drafted him and looking at his college highlights, but his production was probably due to having those big holes to run through.

I think it was more a matter of him being quick enough to function at the college level, but not the pros. He was legitimately excellent at Iowa, but just not athletic enough for the next level.

This was my concern with Wetjen, too, but he showed he could do it at least once against the Bills.

    Many late round picks but:

With the limited preseason, that reduces the value of having many late round picks.

No one is going to trade a 4th for three 6ths anymore because not enough reps to evaluate all the new guys.

No one is going to take multiple late round picks for us to move up in the 1st round anymore. Same reason.

We got a 6th round pick for junk. Kudos Khan.

Well at least its a free chance to try again .. Maybe if you have 6 late round picks you can find 1 or 2 keepers ? Teams will have to do better in the initial evaluation process ...

The smart move is to hire more Scouts and be specific about the groceries they are shopping for..
