This is true, but JPJ is likely getting advise from his dad, who saw what happened to other players trying this tactic. His father saw this tactic succeed sometimes, but he also saw when it failed horribly for the player. Yearlong holdouts can ruin a career. Just ask JPJ's father about his teammate Leveon Bell.

 

Bingo...I though I was the only one who smelled a rat. I believe his father is driving this bus and is the problem.

For me, the jury is still out on Porter. I don't hate the guy but I'm not in love with him either. He is a walking PI penalty every time they throw his way. I'm sure I am not the only one holding their breath at every drop with him just waiting for the flag. He gets away with a lot of contact IMO.

I am also leaning to the trade him side. I realize corners, good corners are hard to find but at this point he appears to heading towards that label of a head case. I can totally understand him wanting to reup now and wanting more money but he is not an elite DB. At least not just yet. His value right now is good for a trade. Let someone else give it a go to be developed. I'll take the draft capital.

Besides, when does it end? You cannot pay everyone. We had the most expensive defense last year I believe and that was without Herbie's big contract. Add in Porter to the mix and you are locking yourself into a lot of future money.

Face it, as many have said here, the Steelers are not SB bound. They are not even on the doorstep right now and won't be until their next QB takes over who we hope will develop into a top tier QB. So, get the draft capital and let someone else deal with this head case.

I hear what you are saying, but neither played with Bell, and Bell is a RB , they don't usually last as long as a CB in length of time in the NFL on average

JPJ makes 3,924,000, he gave up 0 tds, and had 6 penalties.
