They can make a trade package with Howard and the LT traffic cone from last night. Yikes!

Depending on the next preseason game, you may have a chance to get Howard to the PS.

Only Steelers, and Ohio St fans think that a Qb that everyone had a chance at 5 to 6 times, has no NFL experience, and the weakest arm on the team will get snatched up if he gets put on the practice squad.

Two of his offensive linemen were first round picks? He had another drafted in the third round. What do you mean, couldn't block?

every team had at least 2 chances (some 3 or more) at Allar and he would get snatched if he was sent to the PS... I'm not saying that Howard would or wouldn't, just saying that there's a possibility. Particularly teams that don't have any quality young QB prospects.

The other angle to this is that Angelicho and McCarthy both seem to have alluded to poor route running playing a role in Howard's INT's. Obviously they weren't good plays regardless of the route run, but it seems like when the OC says "it was everybody" in regards to the INT's and the HC says "one mistake leads to two. There was something that wasn't right". Both kinda alluding to poor/wrong routes. Again, there isn't an excuse for the balls thrown... but it definitely brings some thought to maybe the coaches aren't placing as much blame on the QB for the INT's? Who knows. Was an interesting thing to read/hear.

Were the starters on the OL besides Jones still playing when Allar entered the game?

The bad thing about if the young QB's don't work out is that next year will be another huge question mark at QB. We will either have to draft another young QB and hope the 3rd time is the charm or get another one year rental as a starter.

You will never show any support for a QB that wore an Ohio State uniform.

I would say they are voting with their fear.......fear that a new and young QB would implode because they are unknown. In that line of thinking, Rudolph is the safe choice. You know what you are getting with him. He might have some bad games, but he will have some good ones as well.

Yeah, he might get us a 50/50 type season, maybe we even make the playoffs....But, we are not going to make any kind of a run in the playoffs with Rudolph. That 'safe' choice is a path to mediocrity IMO.

He will get grabbed when the injuries happen. Someone will pull him in as a third string if any teams have a multi week injury at QB.

I was referencing his OL in college, I was mistaken as to what you were talking about. The OL for us has been pretty poor all preseason... for all three QB's

Not many teams are going to make any kind of playoff run with their backup QB.

I voted Mason because there isn't a ton of difference in him and Howard. So it simply makes more sense to keep the young QB who has a few years of team control.

But that said it feels like it's splitting hairs to worry about it. Neither are destined to do anything significant for this team. So if they keep Mason I'll offer him congrats and tell him not to cock it up.

I also believe they will keep all 4 QB's this year, and will trade 2 of them next year along
with other players to move up in draft to take another QB.

The only way the can trade two next year would be to trade both Howard and Allar which would be foolish and will not happen and it would be foolish

They will get little if anything in trade value for any trade which will move them little in the draft

    Otherwise I agree with you

Howard is not bad, but i think Allar is McCarthy’s guy and we need MR so if they dont keep 4, Howard goes to the PS

if were fighting for playoff positioning and AR goes down for a game or even a few, i prefer MR to fill in for him. He’ll make less mistakes and will better be able to stick with the script of game managing

Keeping 4 QB’s is roster malpractice at this point IMO. The way I see it is that Mason is gonna lose 7 times out of 10 anyways, might as well let one of the kids have a shot and valuable experience. I’ve seen the “roster predictions” for keeping 4 QB’s and it’s just awful. Dumb stuff like keeping 3 safeties or 2 RB’s. It’s just not smart. The cut candidates are just too good to important to the team.

IMO the cut candidates are Holcomb/Bruener, Echols (assuming you trust Samuel as slot), or Tonyan (keep 2 TE and Nowaksowski). Those are the only ones that make sense if we HAVE to keep 4 QB’s in our mind. Every other option is moronic.

You are thinking as fans, not as a HC that has been fired twice already.
