They have him for this year and next year if they so desire

    That is their leverage

Unless he pools a Leveon Bell and sits out. Although that would be foolish. It rarely works out in the players favor when they do that.

Yeah I get that he hasn’t produced a lot of interceptions but playing cb is more than just that. The Pro Bowls are a joke not to mention he happens to be in a conference with all the top cb’s. The guy from Houston, McDuffie was here, Gaurdner, Witherspoon and Gonzalez. Now he probably is a slight tick below that group but not by much. Who is his agent? Is it the same guy that represented Parsons? If so that’s an issue.

i think it's that he is a slightly above good CB not great but really good and they don't want to pay top money for good. of course he will try to get the most he can. the steelers should not overpay and holds the key franchise tag over him. could he sit out? sure but that won't help him either. they let his dad walk. he really isn't in a position of power right now. he is however still under contract.

Color me just shocked that the guy who wants the Steelers to squeeze Porter while saying overpaying others doesn't hurt the team foolishly thinks the low interception total is a good way to judge Porter.

    LoL
Color me confused at all the people that told Me turnovers don't matter when I talked about our D being pretty good, because we got a lot of turnovers, and now because JPJ doesn't have many turnovers thats the reason he's not that good. LoL

Big difference is Bell wasn't under contract when he sat out, Porter Jr. would face heavy fines if he sat out.

Wonder what the price tag is now after other signings?

Any chance of a one year "prove it" extension?

CB is one of the hardest positions to play and also one of the hardest to evaluate. Case in point; one site has JPJ targeted 66 times last season, another says 54. Why such a huge difference? Because only the coaches know what defense was called and who had responsibility for a receiver. So it comes down to only the team knows the true value of a CB to the defense. I expect when it's all said and done JPJ will sign for just south of $30M.
