As I said, I used to live in the area. I've driven through Pittsburgh many times. Including during road construction.

Many years ago a writer from National Geographic was doing an article on Pittsburgh

He was at a light on Liberty Avenue and out of his window he asked the guy in the car next to him how to get to the Carnegie Museum

The guy in the other car looked left and right and finally said “I’m not real busy now so why don’t you just follow me”

Many years before GPS, I was trying to to take my family to the Aviary. I could see it but couldn't figure out to get there as it was surrounded by one way streets so I said the hell with it and put my car in reverse and backed up the one way street to their parking lot.

Because it’s all relative. If you’re used to driving in central PA now of course Pittsburgh traffic is going to seem much worse.

I lived in Baldwin for 10 years and Monroeville for 5, driving into the city for jobs from both places. I assure you I did not enjoy driving in Pittsburgh rush hour traffic either into or out of the city on its own merits.

In central PA you have to dodge all those buggies ;)

I saw a tv show once where a. Amish guy got pulled over for dui with his buggies. He was basically passed out in the buggies and the horse was just kind of doing his own thing in the middle of the road.

Lots of one way roads in Pittsburgh. It's easy to drive... once I knew where I was going. But back in the mid 90's when I was there... no Google Maps or GPS. Had to figure it out the old fashioned way.

Those buggies may be friendlier to the planet than cars, but you don't want to be following one when there is a rear discharge splattered in the middle of the road.

Late one Saturday night/Sunday morning me and my equally inebriated friend were driving the wrong way up a downtown alley

Police car was coming at us so my buddy pulled over to let them pass

As we got window to window the police notified my buddy that he was going the wrong way

My genius buddy responded “I’ve been going this way up this alley for years”

Out loud I said “sure Jim that’s going to get us out of trouble”

We were just sent on our way
