Some genuine competent direction for the Steelers' offense?

Or am I jumping the gun in saying that?

Man, I'm hopeful that it's going to be fun watching when we have the ball.

I hope it will be the case...Offense has been so hard to watch since several years

OT is still an issue. And it effects the quality of the entire offense. Steelers, on paper, look good at WR... unlike previous years.

Where the hell was Mt. Washington last night?

I think although it's early you can see some things happening that are extremely positive. A very deep defense and some key players in place. Can't wait to see Elandon Roberts come back as a run stopper/thumper. Dude can hit. He is 32 though so perhaps he is beyond his years. Allar looks better then Howard but personnel on the field at the time could be a factor. We do have a stronger offense even if it is preseason

From a result orientated looking glass I'd agree, but from a true talent / prospect POV, I thought Allar looked more promising.

I would not disagree witn you on this. Sure will give the coaching staff and the organization something to think about. They must have known Howard as not the answer when they went after Allar in the draft. So far I like Allar better. Let's see who comes in second against the Jets. Could be a good problem to have :)

This. It's gonna be nice to have a competent, 21st century offense.

I have nothing against Arthur Smith and the other OCs going back to Finctner.... but it was obvious, the offense was playing "not to lose" instead of playing to WIN. Hopefully this changes under McCarthy.

While this is 100% fact, the fact that we saw some creativity in the red zone as far as play calling is a genuine breath of fresh air.

    Hopefully.

It's been a little better as we clawed to average over the last couple years. But in the heart of the Canada / Kenny era, I'd basically go to the bathroom / get something to eat when we'd have the ball. But had to be fast because 3 plays doesn't take all that long.

Hard to read too much into PS games. But better to look good than bad (obviously).

In particular, I was pleasantly surprised to see Allar do things the scouting seemed to say he had trouble with. Didn't seem to have obvious footwork issues. And didn't crumple under pressure. Looking forward to seeing more. In an ideal world, he can win the backup job this year (2nd best option would be Howard winning it). But it's the Steelers, so they'll really make him/them earn it IMO.

Remember how excited everyone was when the Steelers went undefeated 2 years in a row.............in pre-season? Everything's a novelty right now - new coaches, new offense, new defense, new special teams, same old fans. Until we see how it all pans out, change is just ...change. At least that's a positive, in concept. :herewego:

We are jumping the gun but the offense should be better because the roster is better. Preseason will lie to you, yes we used the middle of the field but thats because it was wide open, we have to keep in mind that the defense being played was pretty bad.

Is anyone really surprised or have doubts the offenses would look better this season. McCarthy has had a good offense everywhere he has gone, it’s why some of us have been clamoring for an offensive mind.

    Below is from Rudolph:

I wasn't even clamoring for an offensive mind because most HC's come from a strong position on one side of the ball or the other, it's a question of hiring a bright OC and a bright DC. Tomlin refused to do either. What I have been clamoring for is a HC who is willing to let his coordinators game plan around the talent at hand. Tomlin hired milk-toast coordinators so Tomlin could do what Tomlin wanted.
