I Keep reading around porter will hold in , i don't understand what really means i m used to see the hold out when player doesn't come untill new contract is in place , but hold in what is ? He play but not sign ? If is like this we can tag him for the next couple of years if he want more than 25/26 milion a year !

Watt did it previously. It means the player shows up for camp, but refuses to participate in team practices or drills.

That still does not absolve him of his responsibility for guessing the wrong gap time and time again. Im sure there were guys he was being asked to cover that he shouldn't have been but he was the green dot and the amount of plays he himself looked lost on let alone everyone else should be an embarrassment. If the keep Queen and Harrison they should throw draft picks and money at the Ravens for Smith since he seems to be the missing piece to making these former Ravens work better.

I actually like hold in better than holdout . At least they are there during the time mostly, and they are getting in a type of practice, just not team drills. IMO its better than not knowing where they are at, and what they are doing during this time. JMO

They won't pay Witherspoon money. $101 guaranteed! Let him play it out and franchise him next season then work out a deal or a trade.

Exactly. They are foolish. I hope they didn’t lose him. Now that Witherspoon signed they are going to want 30 million. They probably could have had him for 27 million if they would signed him a couple months ago. This is our first chance at having. Potentially two **** down corners.

That doesn't mean Porter Jr is gone the Steelers hold all the leverage, Porter Jr has no Pro Bowls or All-Pro selections to be asking for top 5 CB money. They can franchise him for 2027.

So patiently waiting for Porter to come around to their number while doling out big contracts to a couple of guys who might not even start (Herbig and Benton) wasn't a good strategy? Who knew? Oh right. I did.

Porter is a far better player than Herbig. Don't even get me started on the difference between him and Benton. Hell, by the end of last season, he was playing at a higher level than Watt. The Steelers screwed themselves royally on this one.

if Porter wants paid like a top 5 cb then structure the contract with heavy incentives. If he plays like a top 5 cb and gets all pro and pro bowl the. He gets paid accordingly, if not then his base is structured more in line with what the Steelers view him as.

Maybe they will be able to sell him and his agent on something like that, but I doubt it. My point is that the Steelers thought waiting him out was a good idea. Despite silly claims about the rest of the cornerback room, waiting made it more expensive for them to sign him, not easier.

I hope they still do sign Porter. At some point, the Monopoly money runs out, but I assume that they still can do so. It is also fair to argue that he is likely to want and get more money than he would have before all those other cornerbacks got paid, whether it is the Steelers or some other team that ultimately signs him long term.
