First and foremost, for me, it’s an exhibition and not Real football but it’s important because one should look good and the good news for all of us is all three did.
    Mason - Years of Experience
    Howard -Born Heart
    Allar - Born Ability

Each has negatives too, but which do u choose for the Long Game?

One thing that irked me was special teams playing like they rode the short bus to the stadium. It was ugly. Not just the penalties, either. For example the first punt GB had was very shallow arc and should have offered great return seams to Wetjen but when he caught it there was a wall of white shirts. Unacceptable and terrible night of teams.

Showing your age a bit here using “exhibition” vs “preseason”

Most of the special special teamers will be riding the short bus out of the stadium on cutdown day

Dude. I didn't realize Howards arm was that weak.
Watching it against the other two Allar, and Mason, and it really stood out

Well, you must be sitting too far away from your TV. :)Either that, or maybe you just didn’t feel the vibe on Ben’s debut. Some 22 years ago, I was excited to first see him play, and it took only the pre-season to determine he was going to be good. I just didn’t know how good he would become…I felt similarly about Allar’s debut. I got the feeling he too will be good. How good? Ask me in 10 years.

Allar has a top ten arm in the NFL!

Rudolph's arm makes Howard look sort of weak. Rudolph's arm is average by NFL standards.

Maybe we need to rethink this QB class… Fernando Mendoza, Drew Allar & Carson Beck all have looked phenomenal so far. - Chase Daniel.

He is right. I saw Allar and Beck play in the pre-season games. WOW. I only saw Mendoza's highlights but, the man was impressive too.

I was VERY impressed. He looked confident and poised.

I had the feeling I was watching an NFL vet.

    Wasn't he drafted in 2022?
So if You are saying that was in 2025 he was already in the NFL 3 years. Isn’t that a bit different than Allars very 1st preseason game ever or am I misunderstanding what You are saying?

The throw Rudolph made to the back of the end zone that was almost a TD... was best throw of the game, IMO. He looked very "prime" Ben on that play.

Danny isn't someone I would use as a resource for judging QB play. He does bring up some good points but only seldom so. His overall ability to properly analyze and dissect QB play is not succinct overall.

Mendoza didn't look that impressive to me but then again, I need to review his tape against Arizona a lot more. Saw some of the clips but those don't tell the whole story.

    Of course not!!

Drew Allar isn't allowed to develop for it is only preseason! Even though he is a rookie, him improving his overall foundation is meaningless against NFL Competition! Don't forget that he will not be seeing any NFL Action after the preseason either!!

It's like Aaron Rodgers said; Preseason means nothing!!

Howard is a guy that has to have great mechanics and step into throws to get a lot on the football. I tried to tell everyone this when I was comparing Howard and Allar. I got a lot of flack from people, including you, about just talking about Allar's talent because you accused me of being a Penn State homer.

Until you see Allar's arm in person, it's hard for people to believe he can get that much velocity on the football with so little effort.

With that said, I think Howard played very well last night. He made the right decisions and got the ball to open people. He didn't always hit receivers in stride. He threw behind them a bit, but they were open and he got the job done. He did make a couple layered throws where his touch showed. He looked to have a very good grasp of the offense and what he wanted to do out there. I was impressed.

Allar played great but like many are saying, this is still preseason against vanilla defenses. He's not getting exotic looks to confuse him and force him into huge mistakes. What he did do was show everyone how much talent that arm of his has. He also showed how much better his footwork has gotten since being drafted. He also showed that he has a grasp of the offense as he controlled the huddle and knew where to go with the ball. When things broke down, he showed he can move a bit. He played from under center, and his footwork was good and he played on time. He never did it in college, so he is learning and developing quickly. He's a huge kid with a cannon of an arm that can move pretty well. This was a great first step, but there is still a long way to go before we know how good he is right now. There is no denying the talent. It's there for anyone to see that's watching. It jumps off the screen as I told everyone.

Rudolph looked pretty good as well. He took some sacks, but he played under control and really got the ball to where it needed to go. That was a very professional display of a veteran quarterback that has been around the block and knows what he's looking at. It's what you expect from a veteran QB in a preseason game.

Great night for all the quarterbacks. I hope they all continue to play great. It helps the team if every single one of them plays very well.

That was a great first game for McCarthy, his offense, and his young quarterbacks.

Love all of that. And people saying it’s preseason, all he can do is knock down the tests given to him. He knocked the first test down.

    Onto the next test.

When Allar entered the game we were down 9 to 6. When the game ended we were up 28 to 9. The Allar impact of this game & all the 22 points came under him.

He made some good throws. I did not see the game only the highlights. The QB class of 2026 is looking good so far. Simpson who is there greenest of the bunch plays Saturday.
