I just went down to the Gas-N-Sip, and both of the people I talked to thought Ben was better.

The towel dispenser at Sheetz picked Brees. It hates any Steeler after being punched out by Jeff Reed.

I wonder how the rest of the NFL world would answer this?

To me, it's not even close.

The NFL's 100th All-Time Anniversary team came out in 2019. Ben only had two more seasons after that. You see Drew Brees listed as a finalist? Do you? You see Ben Roethlisberger? Do you? Notice there is a Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback shown and listed as a finalist. He was better than Roethlisberger. So you youngsters and your recentivism is flawed thinking. Chosen by NFL experts and not biased young yinzers.

Not the best argument since Troy Polamalu was not on the list for the top 100.....

I've also posed the question in Texas, Massachusetts and a pro football researchers group. I'll let you know the results.

Wait, Marino is 13th on that list? So is that BS or is Brees BS :hmm:

Brees 5th is absolutely hysterical though :lolol:

Any of these media lists are going to downgrade Ben because of his off-the-field question marks. To many people, he’s already been tried and convicted.

I’m haven’t looked at the full list, but if Troy isn’t on it, the list has a big strike against it’s validity. Give me a frickin break. If it’s also missing Ed Reed, it’s doubly bad.

I polled all of Ben's relatives and it's unanimous, Ben by a mile!

No knock on Brees, great QB, but not in Ben's league.

I see the general argument of "off field transgressions" has found its way into the fray for Big Bens placement against other QBs. That by itself isn't an argument. Big Ben was never Top 3 during the Era in which he played; simple as that. Such lists reflect that.

Now, this isn't to say some people when ranking these lists have agendas. If bias based on behavior factors in by any means, the list itself is void. All the more reason people like John Turney or even using the NFLs 100 All Time Team list is a much more fair and/or comprehensive resource.

Big Ben isn't among the best QBs ever for the simple fact he was never among the most dominant QBs ever for a consistent period of time. Brees was; hence his placement in NFL History. The end.

    This :bscow: isn't rocket science.

    I agree.

Brees should be above Marino but not in the Top 5.

Any list that has Joe Namath, and Steve Young on it is funny. Namath had 2 winning seasons in 13 years, and has over 40 more ints than tds. LOL
Steve Young won 1 SB on a team that Montana had just won 4 SBs. LoL
    I call this list stupid

I guess they didn't consult you or ask you to be on the committee picking the NFL's 100th All-Time Anniversary team. Geez, I wonder why not.

I typically don't believe in using excuses against facts but here goes. Brees has better numbers but...............
    1. Ben played against far superior conference competition.
    2. Ben played played against far superior divisional competition.
    3. Ben played in much tougher weather conditions.
    4. Ben was far more fun to watch.

1.) Jim Harbaughs 49ers (2011-2014), LOB (2011-2017), the Aaron Rodgers led Packers of the 2010s, the Matt Ryan led Falcons of the 2010s (a team that won the division in 2010, 2012 and 2016), Sean McVays Rams (2016 to the end of Brees' career) and the Eagles of the late 2010s were all just as good as their AFC contemporaries; if not better. Only New England, Denver of the early 2010s and Kansas City of the late 2010s were three teams that were either on par or were better.

2.) Carolina and Atlanta were either better to far superior than Cincy and Cleveland during both the mid 2000s and a good majority of the 2010s. Cincy had some good years in the early 2010s but fell off bad while Cleveland would be toiling in mediocrity for essentially the whole decade. Baltimore is the only divisional opponent that was objectively better than the likes of Tampa Bay, Carolina and Atlanta in terms of consistency.

3.) Weather is a condition that neither can control. This is an appeal to external factors. As such, this argument is subjective.

4.) Again, this is subjective. Fun, in this context, can be admired in many different ways. Some like Big Ben's backyard style of Football while others liked Drew Brees cerebral style.

Even excluding all of this, what is not factual here? Brees was more heavily regarded Top 3 during his time in the NFL than Big Ben was. That isn't subjective. That is an objective fact. Brees possesses more accomplishments than Big Ben did during the time in which they played. That is also an objective fact. Most of all, Drew Brews was the more dominant player than Big Ben for a much longer period of time. Again, this is an objective fact.

    In short?! Two things are true here;

1.) Big Ben will be getting into Canton.

2.) Brees being the objectively superior QB doesn't mean Big Ben isn't worthy of Canton.
