What are the odds for Ben and AB in 2027?

I'm going to guess Ben gets in 1st ballot. But I'm worried that he'll get penalized for the SA accusations.

I don't think AB will ever get in. He probably deserves it based on his on field accomplishments. But he left the game in a terrible way. And can't stay out of the news for terrible stuff.

Whether intentional or not, I think Ben basically lying low since he retired is the right way for him to play it. Sure he has the podcast, but my guess is that few people outside of Steelers fans know it exists.

Without doing a deep dive on the stats, I think Gronk should be a 1st ballot guy (4x AP1). Peterson too (4x AP1, 1x MVP).

Going through just the AP1 tallies (which I think the committee really cares about:
    • Peterson 4x
    • Gronk 4x
    • Sherman 3x
    • Ben 0x (2x SB wins...which I think counts more for QBs than other positions, OROY)
    • Newton 1x
    • Whitworth 2x
    • AB 4x
    • McCoy 1x

So Sherman is probably also a potential 1st ballot guy.

I wonder how many of the inductees typically get in on the 1st ballot?

Not having the big individual awards outside of OROY might also hurt Ben. So if people wanted to keep him out in year 1 because of Midgeville, they can talk about how it's hard because 3 other 1st ballot candidates have 3 or more 1st team all pros, showing that they were consistently elite.

Yeah, this is a very strong class....I don't know if they have a limit of first ballot guy for one year or not but I remember Michael Strahan was not a first ballot HOF because 2013 had a very strong class with Jonathan Odgen,Warren Sapp and Larry Allen as first ballot HOF

Based on Belichick's outcome Roethlisberger doesn't make it on first ballot. And that will be a problem because I think Brady is eligible the year after. No way do they want them both sharing the podium the same year. Then again, it could be huge for marketing the event.

It's funny how the NFL turns a blind eye, or even uses their money, to keep star players on the field so they can profit from them but then there is always a discussion about the guy's character when it comes to the HOF.

The difference and Ive mentioned this before in the Belichick gets snubbed thread is the Ben apologized and took his punishment acknowledging he is flawed and did some stuff that he shouldn't. Belichick continues to be defiant and maintain he did nothing wrong. When Goodell said Belichick would apologize, Bill said he never agreed to that. That is why he was snubbed, his arrogance is off putting to the voters and they took him to task for it.

Coincidentally Rodgers recent appearance on The PM show might have the same effect. Lashing out at the NFL and sports writers for their hypocrisy seemed like he was petulant and whinning.

Ben will get voted in, I'd say with in the first five years. Im not sure 1st ballot due to a crowded list of eligible players but not because of the SA charges and off field stuff

Brown will be a curious case study because sorely on numbers alone. That season where his one game total was tops over the top ten receivers combined totals for the season at that point. No denying the bonafides but will they over look the self destruction at the end.

Outside of maybe @steelersrule6@steelersrule6 @Steelersfan43@Steelersfan43 and @Joel Buchsbaum@Joel Buchsbaum I don’t think any Steelers fans know it exists at least not any grown adults

I'm gonna be the usual, negative nay sayer and say Ben doesn't get in until 2029, after Brady goes next year. After what happened to Belichick, Ben will have to pay the fiddler for his transgressions in Georgia.

I am not taking this as a negative thought because it’s a very real elephant in the room

I had a similar thought but is that also enough to keep him out forever

Keep in mind Ray Lewis is in the HOF

Might depend where people rank alleged rapist vs murderer

Gronk is definite. AP probably too. It will be a good class.

I think you might be right, but I still think Ben deserves it. So I'm going to stay on that side of the fence until I'm proven wrong.

I agree with you that Brady will be the only QB they put in when he goes (if Billy B didn't get 1st ballot because of cheating.....).

It does sound like the HoF may be changing it's process after all the blow back from not putting Bellicheck in. If that's the case, maybe Ben gets helped by BB for the first time ever!

Didn't Harrison point out that they were selling prints of him smoking some guy right after a game...a hit he got fined for later in the week.

I listened to a couple of episodes when he had on former team mates.

But outside of old stories with guys, I didn't really like it that much.

    Ben gets in.
    OROY.
Youngest Qb to win a SB
3 SB appearances, and 2 SB wins.
Top 10 in almost every QB stat that matters, and holds records.

    Not a factor

    Not a factor

The long snapper has the same stats so not a factor

The last sentence is all that matters

Yeah Qb accomplishments mean nothing for a Qb trying to make the HOF. LoL

    Yeah I did.
Every single thing that as a Qb he accomplished is a factor for a Qb to make the HOF.
