1st thing that came to mind.

 

Same thing would happen with Stewart, and did happen as happens with Lamar , when they faced a D in the playoff good enough to say OK no more running, you must beat us through the air to win.

 

I believe because so many teams had a game plan of trying to defending us with Stewart then Maddox came in , and it was a totally different game then, and then they caught up with the change

 

What about Hurts?

He's been to two SBs, won one... and out-played Mahomes in the one he lost. Hurts has a similar playing style to Stewart... he can run if he has to.

 

Hmm. You don't think the comeback in the playoffs against the Ravens when they were up 21-7 was big. Hell that one got us another SB appearance.

 

Hurts isn't Stewart, or Lamar.
Hurts doesn't care about style points. Watch him play, watch his interviews, he doesn't care about being the cool guy, he just wants to win by any means.

No matter what you say , or try saying these are the actual records of both , no cherry picking, no leaving anything out. Every single game each has coached as a HC in the NFL.
Cowher: 161- 99 - 1, 2 SB appearances, and 1 SB win.
Tomlin: 201- 126- 2, 2SB appearances, and 1 SB win

All else is feelings.

 

That was #2. Most of the difference is the time remaining. PIT had more than a half to come back in that one (PIT win probability @ 22%).

 

I didn't think about it that way.

 

I feel like Tomlin had a lot more talent

The LBs have been key to the Steelers defenses over the years. I honestly don't know the answer to this question without looking it up; who had the better LB corp during their tenure? I feel like Cowher did. Greg Lloyd, Levon Kirkland, Kevin Green come to mind.

That is every single game they both coached in the NFL as HCs. Every single game.
No you are right, the others only other SB appearances came with Nolls draft pick N. O'Donnell, and he never got back to the SB again till Ben.

 

Cowher never had talent like the Killer B's and there were several years he had below average talent. He fostered discipline and achievement rather than the kumbaya world that Tomlin fostered.

He had Greg Lloyd who he didn't draft, R Woodson who he didn't draft, , J. Bettis who he didn't draft, N. O'Donnell who he didn't draft, C. Lake who he didn't draft, the list goes on , and on. You are just in your feelings about things.
Cowher, and Tomlin are very similar in coaching.
Again every single game they coached.
Cowher 161- 99- 1, 2 SB appearances, and 1 SB win.
Tomlin 201- 126- 2 , 2 SB appearances, and 1 SB win.

Anything else is feelings.

 

I feel like this is one of those times someone is using stats to support their opinion.

Let me give you an example:
Let's say you and I each have a net worth of $10 million. You could make a case that we handled our money the same? But ...... I inherited $20 million cash five years ago, and you worked your ass off to build a great net worth. Still the same? Of course not!

So .......Cowher was a great coach! Tomlin sucked!

The longest Cowher ever went without a playoff win is three years. He is clearly a 3.33333 times better coach than Tomlin

This is true. Bettis was the best overall RB Steelers have had since Harris... but he was past his prime by the time SBXL rolled around.

LeVeon Bell and Antonio Brown were about as good as Marshall Faulk and Isaac Bruce. Only difference is... Faulk and Bruce won a SB and HOF members because they didn't make bad business decisions.

 

The killer B's offense would been much better if the head coach would been a offensive coach,similar to Dick Vermeil and it would worked with Todd Haley,similar with Mike Martz in 1999 for Vermeil!

 

Just like Tomlin didn't win anything with the Killer B's, Cowher didn't win anything with those good defenses in the 90s. The Cowher fanboys will show up with the excuses .
