I've made it clear to several of the obvious politically right wing members here (not you), that I do not agree with biological males competing in female sports. I also have made it abundantly clear that I do not want to defund any police department whatsoever. Eager to disappoint you.

Well, don't assume because I don't post much that I'm jumping in willy nilly. I read more than I write on here. As far as the comparison of the two, that can be shelved until both of their careers are complete. McVay likely still has a long career ahead of him and I'm not certain Tomlin is done coaching either.

Like I said, you have a vivid imagination. You keep calling me a troll and insisting I am someone else.

Here is the definition of a troll, by which you are acting more like a troll.
A message board troll is a person who intentionally provokes or disrupts discussions on online forums or message boards for their own amusement.

Just because you read it before, or wrote it yourself, doesn't mean that anybody else posting it is a troll.

Go drink a glass of Metamucil you old curmudgeon.

McVay has already passed Tomlin's playoff winning percentage and he is excellent on coaching red flag challenges, way better than Tomlin was.

    That much is certain.

I think Tomlin is done coaching and McVay is about to enter his coaching prime.

    McVay coaching tree:

    Tomlin has no tree.

Was Tomlin good, bad, or mediocre? On paper he clicks the boxes as good. Been to 2 superbowls and won one. No losing seasons. Many coaches do not have that pedigree.

The bottom line is they're selling tickets and merchandise. The NFL is a business.

I've said for years Tomlin won his Superbowl off the back of Cowher. He handed him the franchise QB he always dreamed of having but never had. Tomlin had it in cruise control just didn't have to crash with great support cast.

Then the era of 3 Bs. It always seemed someone got injured or something happened.

Fast forward to playoff Jacksonville game. I still have a bad taste in my mouth. Just let them run it up the middle.

I'll just say I'm thankful for Mike but I do think it's obvious a change at HC is long overdue. Rooney has been bringing in the dollars so he was content with that imo.

Just a bit more to add.

Tomlin has no coaching tree. For a head coach with that kind of longevity, this is unheard of. Bruce Arians is the one notable success who left and won big elsewhere, but he was already a veteran coordinator as Tomlin did not hire him. No assistants hired by Tomlin became a head coach.

Poor track record on challenges. His success rate on coach’s challenges hovered in the low-to-mid 40% range for much of his career—below league average—and included multi-year stretches of near-total failure (long losing streaks on flags). Game management details like this are part of the job, and they didn’t help.

Elite coaches usually put a lasting stamp on one side of the ball or special teams. Tomlin came in as a defensive guy, yet the Steelers’ best defensive years successfully years coincided with Dick LeBeau’s presence as coordinator. Once LeBeau departed after 2014, the unit’s identity and consistency faded and the playoff wins all but disappeared. Tomlin never developed a signature offensive scheme either, cycling through coordinators without producing a coherent, sustained attack that elevated the roster.

As a head coach he inherited excellence, then couldn’t fully replace it. He took over a stacked roster still carrying Super Bowl XL momentum, anchored by a franchise quarterback in Ben Roethlisberger and a core of elite veterans he did not draft. That group delivered the 2008 title and another Super Bowl appearance. As those players aged out and the talent pipeline became more dependent on his own drafting and development, the postseason results deteriorated sharply—ending with an overall 8-12 playoff record and multiple stretches of early exits or one-and-dones once the inherited foundation eroded.

One part I disagree with. Tomlin was no snake charmer. If he was he would not have had so many divas. His diva control is severely lacking. But he might have had Art Rooney II by the short hairs. In his back pocket was " The Rooney rule " , which would be an incredibly bad look for Art if he did not renew Tomlin's contracts. All this while Tomlin tied the NFL record for a head coach. 8 years of consecutive no playoff wins. Art's reward was Tomlin quitting with a signed contract to coach another year. He left the Steelers, not the other way around. But we will never know who t went down.

Again,Arians was still in the Cowher staff. For Belichick,at least several of his assistants become a head coach even if they were not good as head coach after that.Who become a head coach after being hired by Tomlin?

Yep, cut and dried. The usual suspects on here are digging a deeper hole to bury their reasoning, if not their intelligence as a whole.

If you had the ability to keep Tomlin or swap for McVay over the past 5+ years, only a few knuckleheads would have NOT jumped at that exhance and brought in McVay and let him clean house. Unlike Tomlin, McVay can hire and coach up assistants, or at least NOT meddle.

Belichick has quite a coaching tree. Combined they won 203 regular season and playoff games in the NFL. Saban was excellent. I will sum it up just for you.

Nick Saban: Cleveland Browns defensive coordinator under Belichick before an iconic college career and a 2 year job with the Miami Dolphins.

Bill O'Brien: Former Patriots offensive coordinator who went on to lead the Houston Texans with a 52–48 record.

Brian Flores: Former Patriots assistant who managed a 24–25 record across three seasons leading the Miami Dolphins.

Josh McDaniels: Longtime New England coordinator who had two head coaching runs with the Denver Broncos and Las Vegas Raiders.

Romeo Crennel: Longtime defensive assistant who served as head coach for the Cleveland Browns, Kansas City Chiefs, and Houston Texans.

Matt Patricia & Joe Judge: Former prominent New England assistants who struggled in brief head coaching tenures with the Detroit Lions and New York Giants

    Tomlin's tree? He has NONE.
