The lethal combination of Tomlin and Rooney

Funny how Super Bowls matter to you for Tomlin... but they don't matter when Belichick is the topic of discussion. Why is that?

Hypocrisy.

 

Despite the comparison to Tomlin, which I genuinely don't give 2 sh!t's about, I find it baffling that a few of you here just can't bring yourselves to admit that's Sean McVay is a good coach. Notice I didn't say great. I didn't say the best ever. I didn't even say that he is better than Tomlin, only that he is a good coach.
The lengths to which some of you will go to tear down other coaches in defense of Mike Tomlin is simply mind-boggling.

I'll take it a step further and be objective. Sean McVay has already proven in his 9 years of head coaching in the NFL that he is better than Mike Tomlin will ever be. And I always want Steelers coaches to be the best in the NFL. But Tomlin is by far the worst of the 3 Super Bowl winning coaches of Steelers in my lifetime. And I think he is highly overrated by sports media. He doesn't deserve the acclaim he gets, IMO.

 

Here is the reality, Bags Tomlin is gone. Rehashing what was is a moot point. I'm just overjoyed that he is gone and taking his word salad and dumb clichés elsewhere.

My issue is "Run it Back" Rooney II.

On a side note my friend was looking for you at Ragbrai and was asking around. She got crazy attention with her Marie Antoinette get up.

 

He's such a terrible HC he managed to have the highest winning percentage of any Steelers HC .

 

Unfortunately I didn't see her. Only rode half days Tuesday through Thursday and all day Friday. Hard to find a specific person in that sea of people.

 

No playoff wins in 9 seasons. Worst run since 60's....pre-Noll era.

And its much easier to get in to the playoffs during Tomlin era. Half the league makes it.
So for such a solid regular season (and that was just a step above mediocre the back half of the Tomlin era), half the league making the playoffs and Tomlin couldn't beat even an equally weak wild card team.

Bottom line, other playoff teams DREAMED of getting the Steelers in WC round. DREAMED and HOPED. WE were the joke of the playoffs over the past decade. We were also a joke in the playoffs for the entire Tomlin era when New England looked our way. Other teams had some success against the Patriots/Brady/Belichick. We had NONE. Game was over before the first half ended in every matchup.

 

Can't wait for afternoon crowd.

 

McVay is clearly a good coach. Similar tier as Tomlin I think. The rest of his career may provide more (or less) separation between the two.

The real reason I responded here was to comment on the EVH guitars. They look pretty sweet. Every once in a while, I kind of get the urge to buy some cheap Strat knock off (or maybe a kit?) and try to make my own. But so far, I haven't had the courage to try it.

And I'm more of an acoustic guy. Just bought a used mid-depth Ovation yesterday. I know they're pretty divisive, but my Dad has a Balladeer from the early 80s and I've always loved that guitar. Working on getting my kids into it. My eldest took a guitar class a couple years ago and started coming back to it this summer. I moved her from a classical guitar to an Ibanez Talman TCY10 (which is a nice size for her...and it's blue which is her favorite color). It's fun to play together.

 

I wish more players were like Mason when they were making public facing comments.

Maybe he's the same behind closed doors. Maybe he isn't.

But I don't like it when players (or coaches) air the dirty laundry.

 

I dabble in guitar a little but I'm actually a drummer by trade. I made the red white and black one myself and got the yellow and black one as a gift. I'm a huge VH fan.

I totally agree, and if You would actually read it all, and not just jump in willy-nilly, You would see me saying that he is a not good coach, but a great HC, he's just not better than Tomlin. So I would say we agree from what You just wrote.
