The QB Scenario that no one is talking about is... What happens if Drew Allar WINS the backup job!!!

Everyone is talking about Mason vs Howard for the backup QB roll, but there is another option that I will be rooting for during training camp.



At the end of the day, I think it is going to be Rodgers, Mason, and Drew with Howard on the practice squad. If Allar can turn some heads and prove that he has the stuff, it could be Rodgers, Drew and then Howard.

 

I am excited to get out to Latrobe, coaching change should have happened years ago. MMcarthy was not my choice
but hey let's give him a chance, he maybe a breath of fresh air. He has a playoff roster. Lets see him work his magic.

I think he would have last year but A. Smith liked Jonnu, and Rodgers likes Washington, so Muth was the redheaded step child, but Jonnu is gone so I think Muth could shine, it now will depend on how much McCarthy ends up using multiple TEs.

 

I'll bite... Eli ran a 4.44 at the NFL combine; what is wrong with that? FYI At the 2017 Combine, McCaffrey ran a 4.48-40-yard dash.

Hey what happed to last year's PreSeason phenom Big Lew Nichols. Is he back for another training camp in 2026?

11 carries for 87 yards. 7.91 yards per carry.
5 receptions for 36 yards

 

He does look slow out of the gate, but the 1 hand catch was pretty great.


He also looked like he got a slow start in his 40 time, his top end speed must be amazing. He looked almost mechanical to start that 40, very stiff.

 

lew is back. He is quite good.

 

I was really rooting for him to get in as the teams FB last year, because I had no faith in Connor's ability to lead block.


This year, I just don't see a spot for him, as I think rookie Riley Nowakowski fills the starting FB roll really nice.

 

not really FB size. 5-10 220. he could start or be a 2nd RB for a lot of teams. i agree about no room at this time. PS hopefully in case. better runner than homer. homer being a good STeamer. nowakowski a better FB. it's a shame but he is quite good if the need arises. he sure wouldn't hurt a team.

 

Sadly, he's a concussion away from missing multiple games.

It's his 10 yd split. He is slow off the line.

 

Not so.

He has a good 10-yard split. Eli is a player with excellent stop-and-start quickness. He’ll need to evolve from the option offense to make a successful transition to the NFL, but speed and quickness are not the problem. According to minicamp reports, he has very good hands.

I see him as a tough cover in 4- and 5-WR sets. IMO, he will be good at quick hitting routes and surprise WR runs because he is quick.

This would certainly be the best case scenario.

I hope that we get to see both Allar and Howard play a lot of snaps in the preseason.

 

his strength is vision with the ball in his hands and cut back ability and ability to make guys miss. heck hines ward wasn't fast or quick either and he had a pretty good career i'd say.

 

I always wonder what 4-5 100ths of a second end up mattering on the field.

Especially when guys normally have significantly different body composition at the combine than they have on the field.

 

not much. seeing and processing their and opponents movements is a huge part of being a good football player. the fastest are not always the best. the ones with smarts do pretty well. if you get one with both you really have something.

 

That 10 yd time is in the 60%tile... not anywhere near top. Don't always believe what AI tells you.

EDIT: and you don't even need me to tell you; watch the tape. His get-off is slow.

You are calling a player who is quick in the first tens yard slow of the line. I'm not buying it.
