Cowher inherited an average team in 1992. Tomlin inherited an elite AFC, Super Bowl caliber team in 2007 with franchise QB and coaching staff in place. Just the facts. :icon e ugeek:

Unless you saw me saying Tomlin's record against Vrabel or McVay is irrelevant, that has no business in responding to my post.

Do you really think Brady was the reason the Patriots won the Super Bowl in 2001? Brady fumbled away one playoff game against the Raiders only to have the officials bail him out. Then he stunk against the Steelers right up to the point they knocked him out of the game. Yes, he led them on a clutch drive for the winning field goal late in that Super Bowl, but he didn't do much until that point. In the first 58 minutes of that game, Brady didn't even have 100 yards passing. The defense that held the Greatest Show on Turf to 17 points while recording a pick-six off Kurt Warner was the deciding factor in that game. Belichick's defense.

Tomlin inherited a team that went 6-6 the year before he arrived, then lost both outside linebackers.

Also in 2003,the pats defense had 4 interception vs Manning in the AFC title game.Manning was on fire in the 2 previous playoffs game that year. The titans with co-mvp(McNair) had also only 14 points. And in 2004,the colts score only 3 points against the pats.

Brady deserve credit for the super bowl against the panthers in 2003 but this is the same thing for Belichick against the rams in 2018.The first 3 super bowl was more about Belichick and the last 3 was more on Brady but both had their moment in both run

Down year can happen in the NFL...Just look at the chiefs last year,49ers in 2020 and 2024 and steelers in 2009...I can said several other example....Not rare a team goes to the super bowl one year, down year the year after and bounce back after that

No doubt, but this implication that Tomlin was handed a perfect roster is nonsense.

He was handed a SB roster. It’s the 8-8 narrative that is nonsense.

Talk about someone riding the coattails of a HOF player....

Not that it is relevant but he is also a losing college coach.

    Well it sure wasnt 6-6

And it’s absolute bs to try and argue a team that just won a SB with the same roster was somehow a bad team because they had a SB hangover among other reasons like Bens mishaps.

Tomlin and Colbert drafted well in 2007 and 2010... I'll give them that. Harrison was already there at OLB... and Woodley ended up being one of the best 2nd round picks Steelers ever had. The record was 8-8 and mostly due to Roethlisberger's sluggishness at QB. He clearly wasn't himself after the motorcycle crash and appendectomy. I remember the 2006 season like it was yesterday.

You are talking about one SB, and I can put what people say anywhere.
Yes You have told me , and others have also said that head to head didn't matter, would you like to bet money that I can show You saying it before??
Yes if people run their mouths that when I say Tomlin is undefeated against McKay, and Vrabel, and they say that it means nothing, those same people can't turn around, and say that it matters Bill Belichicks record against Tomlin. Im sorry if some are such hypocrites that they can't see that, and Im not saying you are Im saying whomever says it.
If You are guilty of this how is that my problem, if You aren't, I apologize.

Shrugs. Typos happen, but they were a .500 team, and you knew that. Sorry if the facts don't fit your chosen narrative.

What is BS is the folks who act as if Tomlin didn't earn a Super Bowl victory.

I honestly don't remember, but I've never thought that was a particularly big deal because the sample sizes are so small. Tomlin only faced Belichick once in the playoffs and 13 times total. You could say it was meaningful with Harbaugh, but wasn't it 44 times they went head-to-head? Doesn't that mean a lot more than the three times Tomlin coached against Vrabel, or the two times he faced off with McVay?

The Steelers started 2-6 that season because of what you said, Ben's motorcycle crash and the emergency appendectomy. Once Ben was healthy they finished the year 6-2 and were a team on the rise when Tomlin took over the next season.

You are only handed a SB roster if that team went to the SB the previous year.

Tomlin was handed an 8-8 team that had a young franchise QB. But it also lost its heart and soul in Bettis. Lost its leader on defense in Porter.
didn’t Ben have the worst stats for a SB winning QB?

and it wasn’t like Brady butt fumbled vs the Raiders. He got blind sided by a DB who heard the call during the time out.

I’m far from a Brady fan but we all know Bilecheat was booty cheeks without Brady.

Why are folks acting like we dominated in 2005? We were a 6th seed who had to win out on the road. We knocked out Palmer early, needed a shoe string tackle by Ben to preserve a win in a game we DOMINATED for 55 minutes.. and Ben had the worst game of any QB in a win.

Spare me this idea that we had a SB roster.

Need I remind everyone, the plan was for Ben to hold a clipboard his rookie year.

No one was saying SB roster when 2004 started.
