I'm no NFL coach, but I like the idea of doing something like rotating series early in games and going with the hot hand late.

At least early in the season.

I'm sure there are better ways to do it, but I really hope that they let them compete and have someone win the job. I'm pretty jaded after Patterson and J Smith the last two years. I know it's not fair to hold that against a different coaching staff. But I still worry that they'll go like 70/30 Dowdle just because MM knows him.

I tend to think the carry breakdown should be 60/40 at it's most lopsided (assuming both are healthy). Rotate them both to keep them fresh and make the D stop them.

This just gave me a funny vision of someone (no one in particular) arguing with himself and still trying to get the last word in

Some times I just think funny things

No don't be a girl, and use the ignore feature. Its more gratifying to watch them yap like puppies, and not answer, and just giggle to yourself. You don't make a child disappear when they annoy you, You just tune them out, and speak to the adults.

A lot will depend on the game script of course ..IMO MM and AR will want to throw a lot , but will run a lot if they can get the lead..The Steelers have a bunch of guys who can be used as RB'S or WR'S I expect a lot of check with me from AR to motion into packages for those guys as well..

I hope the old keep it close until the end crap is gone ..Not sure how well it will work out , but I expect a lot more aggressive approach ...

I think there's a fair chance that we have a worse (and maybe significantly worse) result than last season.

But I'm excited for what I assume will be a fairly big change in philosophy on offense and the potential for adjustments on defense that I we need (e.g. do something to limit super-quick throws and make opposing OCs gamble for explosive plays at the risk of us smoking their QBs with a great stable of edge rushers).

I think you're right re: AR. He's old. But there are few guys who will have his experience reading defenses and deducing where to get the ball. Hopefully that's something we take full advantage of. And that we can protect him well enough that he can perform to the best of his ability.

You and I were demonstrating the same thing. You were pushing the idea that Dowdle is a high-variance rusher, so I used those three games to show you that the same is true of Warren. Those three games wildly inflated his numbers for 2025. People were reaching for ways to defend his low average per carry until that Detroit game. Just because you don't like the result of that analysis doesn't make it any sort of fallacy. It is not just looking at his only two 100-yard games, though that was a good place to start. It was noticing that those two games came against awful defenses, then adding in the second game against the Bengals' putrid defense. You don't think there is correlation between the quality of the opponent and the production? Is that the claim you're going to try to sell now?

Warren's variance wasn't based on usage in 2025. I'm not saying anything about how usage affects variance in general. I'm simply talking about what he did last year. He was used as the team's top back all season, unlike how Dowdle was used in 2025, and a massive chunk of Warren's production came in three games.

That quote you used? That was me talking about the variance in Warren's production in 2025, so no, I didn't misrepresent your argument, but you just did that to mine yet again. You really should stop doing that. It makes it impossible to take you seriously.

    Good advice!

I put him on Ignore. So at least I'd have to actively remove it.

That is a fair concern, but a big part of the point of hiring McCarthy is that he's a much better offensive coach than Smith.

The rotation to start might just be the best way to handle this, though I'd still like to see Warren out there all the time on third-down passing situations. He is so good in that role.

Oops. Nevermind. Apparently, some folks can't handle having their false statements exposed.

Which is exactly what I do. Hopefully, he is more consistent in 2026.

Yup. There was nothing wrong with Warrens game last season. He was made the starter and responded very well. It’s all there for anyone that wants to look it up. He was fairly consistent in retrospect to the amount of carries he got from game to game.

McCarthy has a good problem on his hands, two very capable RB’s. Will be interesting to see how he divvies up the division of labor.
