How much juice do you think Rodgers have left?

I think his arm is still close to what it was in his prime, maybe 75% of peak Rodgers. But he’s very old now, has a recent injury history , and tends to play “turtle back” instead of standing firm in the pocket and taking a hit to deliver a down field throw. Can he start 12 games this year?

His internal clock seems a bit fast. I get it. But he also out of Art Smith offense. I expect him to throw more of the 5,6,7,8 and 9 routes this year.

One thing I’ve underestimated about AR is how good he is as a mentor for our young QB's. This is new. I’m also curious how well he’ll work with the young receivers. The early signs this year are good.

I hope the Steelers offer him some kind of consulting position after he retires.

Stat Wise: I am expecting him to be better this year as he will no longer have to be playing with Art Smith's playbook and Mike Tomlin's conservative approach.

I'll go with one (this) season. He's already said he is done afterwards, so he knows his body is at that point and that's the most accurate indicator there is. Who knows better than he does.

I would think Rodgers will have left a lot of juice since he drinks Gatorade;)

I think you will see a managed flying circus for as long as he can stay healthy. He will be counting down the games and will not want to waste any of them. In fact, he will be counting plays and his efficiency. vYou will know right away which teams are better and which are worse.

    None.

Sure he can likely still rear back and throw a country mile. Plenty of old former QBs can do that.

But, the juice to play NFL QB at anything other than replacement level? The thrill is gone. He's lost that loving feeling.

And we have should have more than 1 NFL WR this season.

I was there for almost every snap. Rodgers was replacement level.

If his name was Duck Dodgers, everyone would've been calling for him to be benched.

How many hits can he take? Probably less than he took last year

How so? From my first post in this thread I've maintained that Rodgers is replacement level at best.

    For me, that's no "juice".

No one has to agree. Just how I interpreted the original thread question.

How do you even begin to measure 'juice'?

Rodgers has already set the stage for this to be his swan song season. Does that mean he feels the physical deterioration that comes with his age? Is it that he's mentally just ready to start the next phase of life with his new bride?(Bride that reportedly talked him into one more season) Or, will this be a case of the Wiley old veteran pushing all his chips in and giving his all for one last shot at the brass ring?
I think it's a combination. Of course he's feeling 40+, the NFL takes its toll and Father Time is still undefeated. I feel like he had one of those Tom Brady moments with his wife about coming back, and this time the wife agreed with the return. So, if he's coming back for one final run for the trophy, I believe he IS all in and we will get to see just exactly how much there is left in the tank.

Side note: I have always preferred smart and technically sound players over the guys that are just uber-athletic and rarely had to struggle in the game.

Loved that show as a kid in late 70's... along with Battlestar Galactica.

2000's Battlestar has aged better than 70's version... but yeah, it was good SCI FI TV for it's time.

He has the mental game, experience, and everything intangible that could go with his game. What he does not have is the physical aspect that he used to have. Age gets us all and he is no exception. I don't expect many long downfield passes. I don't expect any end zone hail mary throws from a long ways out. I do not expect bullet passes.

I do expect smart play, well timed routes that account for his passes that arch rather than beeline, full use of the field from right to left (but not deep), and a TE or RB who has a primary job of being the dump off target so that Rodgers can avoid getting turned into a yard sale. I can't say what percentage he is today compared to his prime, but if he is 75% as you said, that is a huge drop in ability in the NFL and it is all coming from his physical ability side of things.

His overall success is going to largely depend on if he plays scared or if he holds his ground. Last year we saw a lot of playing scared IMO......he was hearing footsteps too often and it greatly diminished what he is capable of.

They have hired 4 former O-Line coaches on the offensive side of the ball, so I think the blocking will be much improved over last year's Pat Meyer team.

I am worried that while the RB's will know how to block, they will have a step backwards in fumbles and drop passes as the new RB coach is an O-Line coach that has never coached a position that was allowed to "Touch" the football at any level: highschool, college,or pro.
