Super Bowl IX was played outside in Tulane Stadium because the Super Dome didnt get finished in time. It was freezing cold and horrible weather conditions. Plus back in the early seventies, the NFL was not a passing league, it was 3 yards and a cloud of dust mentality. Tell me you know nothing about football without telling me you know nothing about football!!!!!!!

Maybe he thought you were riding your tractor in the Superdome when you were attacked by that swarm.

How many turnovers can be avoided by practice? Alot. Practice until you perfect the simple routine plays, snaps, handoffs, proper route running, protecting the ball. A certain coach emphasized this once a long time ago

Agreed, BUT it was becasuse of Tomlin and his very, to be kind, unimaginative hirings of OCs. Since Haley left he hired dumpster fire after dumpster fire. The only semi-respectable one, A smith, was RUN OUT OF TOWN in Atlanta because he refused to put the ball in the hands of his two best players (they were great decoys).

Had Tomlin hired competent OCs AND had Tomlin any kind of spine or backbone (he doesn't) we would have had more 4th conversions and much less 4th attempts (when the D knows your plays downs 1, 2, and 3, easy to get into a lot of 4th and 1s/2s).

No matter how anyone spins it, it comes back to Tomlin. Spinelessness OR bad OC scheming/playcalling, both squarely on Tomlin's meek shoulders.

I know its hard for some people to understand, but the numbers one job of a HC is to win games.
Everyone talks about making the playoffs is so easy today ,but only 5 teams in the NFL have made the playoffs 5 out of the last 6 years, and the Steelers are one of the 5.

Only the raiders, jets, dolphins and steelers did not win a playoffs game in the AFC since 2017.Never good to be in the same category that those teams right now

Rooneys want no 7. We all want it. We want a coach who can get us there.

The number one job for any HC like I said is to win games, and yes the SB is one of the most important, and yet only 6 teams have made the playoffs 5 out of the last 6 years, and I believe only one of them has won a SB

Their coach stayed home for their playoff win, maybe that was the key to victory.

This makes me wonder how many snaps Pouncey had done before the Browns game...

Exactly. That is like me making you study for a driver test starting tomorrow before you drive every day.
Nothing can be laid at any coaches feet because Pouncey snapped the ball way over the QBs head. If Pouncey was out, and a different center was in there I could see the point, but its not what happened.

There are a few misguided posters who like to say Rooney just wants to make money and doesn’t care if they win

Some people make up crap just to complain

Maybe I/You/We don’t agree with his approach but you don’t spend 73 years of your life with the team and not care about winning

My point was that his issue here wasn't a lack of practice. It was that he ****ed up.

My personal belief is that it was because he was declining. His snaps had been not consistent for a long time. My guess is because he was losing the ability to snap and then get his hands up to block.

I don't think practicing more would have made him younger. Especially at something basic that he'd have likely done hundreds of thousands of times since HS.

i disagree, as players age their stance, yeah reaction time changes. Maybe the grip on the ball is not as good. It shows up in practice and coaches should identify what hes doing wrong and help him adjust. That snap was a serious mistake, should have been avoided.
