They will likely be targeting a QB in the first round next year not a CB, it's possible Ramsey, Heyward, and maybe Highsmith come off of the books next year.

That's more than likely but the best scenario for the Steelers would be Rodgers being out for the season after game #1 and Will Howard coming in and starting the final 16 games and going a decent 10-6. He doesn't have to be spectacular but shows that he has what it takes to be a good NFL starting QB. Then we could use the 2017 draft to build around him.

I really want a nice miter saw. Not having one has been holding back my woodworking for awhile now. Scoured the re-sale market and finally found one. Cuts clean, holds its angle, all those wonderful miter saw things.

Why would I leave it on the curb for someone else and try and trade my table saw and a shop-vac for the chance to enter the miter saw blind raffle? Because the dust collector was going to be expensive?

Geesh. Just sign Porter and move on with your day. Unless someone with the Steelers has a tangible reason that he is not or will not be a top CB....then it is all just PR posturing.

Yeah I don't understand the mentality of trading Porter and "just get another corner in the draft". They must forget about our high draft picks at CB like Artie Burns and Senquez Golson.

    I bought a miter saw

I did my homework looked at all the pros and cons all the options and bought one that fit my needs at a proper price

I pretty much do that with everything

I pretty much did that very well for a living with a lot of my money and other people’s money

Probably why I stayed employed and eventually owned my businesses and did very well

    But there is your option

If the Steelers want to sign someone, they will restructure contracts as they've done before, and they will sign him. Count me among those not worrying about this.

You’re version is even better than mine.

Either way the underlying rationale makes more sense than not buying a miter saw because the first time you check prices in 5 years it seems expensive.

I’m losing the plot here. But I think we agree?

They’ll sign him, probably a huge bone of contention will be guaranteed money.

Watt's trade value has already plummeted. Anybody can see he is not worth near that much money now.

Especially now that they have already found and possess a great miter saw when they've had ****ty miter saws that have been mostly crap for years now, and they haven't been able to draft one for **** in forever.

I have never said "miter saw" that many times in my entire life.

It's crazy. Qb, and CB are the two hardest positions to grade, and draft. He's a very good CB, and he has shown improvement every year.
    Pay the man.

i think they may be waiting for next year. not that he isn't good but will he keep improving? will he be worth that type of money? dean could be the new number one. he is signed for the next 3 years. everette is a shiny new blade that could be put in that miter saw keeping the old saw working well. will those two be used as leverage in the bank? a lot of o-linemen may have to be signed. they are looking to even up the offensive and defensive spending.

When you are talking about elite CBs, there is no team leverage. JPJr either gets his contract here or he gets it elsewhere on the FA market. Entering his prime years and still plenty of runway ahead of him, somebody will pay. And he knows this. The Steelers know this.
If the plan is to let him walk in FA after next season, then go ahead and trade him now and let his new team negotiate.
If the Steelers plan to re-sign him to a long term deal, we have time to get it done.

just depends how they see dean and everette. we still hold the franchise tag as well. we also have ramsey, samuel, echols and even porter and jamison and lynim and kent when healed. kent was a draft pick as well. just depends what they think he's worth at the time. that would be a lot of money tied up at corner for the next couple of years. just saying there are options if his demands are too much.

This entire conversation reminds me that I need to set up better dust collection for when I'm using my miter and table saws in the garage.

But how much? His agent is asking above the franchise tag. Porter is very good — I’d say a top 5-10 NFL corner. But to be truly elite, he needs to produce more turnovers (e.g. more interceptions and forced fumbles).

They could always tag Porter in 2027. I am still thinking it is going to be a 5 year contract.

2026 CB tag was $21 million.

    No this is not correct

He is under contract on his rookie contract which is cheap and they can tag him next year (and the next.)

Thats 2-3 years in his prime they can just sit and take him on which would be half of the 4 year deal he’s trying to get

If he wants to play Russian roulette with the Steelers they have 3 bullets in the revolver

Go ahead Joey pull the trigger

I hear you ,but I don't think elite, and ints by a CB are a hand in hand thing. There are many reasons why it's not for a good CB. Ike Taylor was a great CB but had hands of stone, and Porter is better, and still very young. Whatever they pay him now in 2 years won't be that much compared to what other will be receiving. Again Qbs, and CBs are very hard to find, and grade .

Hell no my friend. We could have a L. Bell all over again, and CBs are harder to find than RBs. Just pay the man. In a few years whatever they pay him will be nothing compared to what others are being paid.
