What some of us always suspected but Ebron confirmed it. Team was going no where after that, not just that year but 21 also. Not that we had a better option at QB.

I did read that in 2022 we were interested in Stafford but Rams wanted a 2nd rd pick and Steelers were only offering a 3rd. I would have gave up a 2nd easily. Would have gotten a QB and been spared the Pickens drama.

Didn't Stafford have a shoulder that season? There was some risk there but hindsight says he was worth a 2.

I don't believe for the Stafford situation....Maybe it was in 2023 after a bad season for the rams and Stafford(because of many injuries including Stafford) but no way it was in 2022,few month after the rams won the super bowl...And the steelers had high hope on Pickett at that time too....I just don't believe that

But yeah,Ben was too limited at the end...His arm was not the same and he could not move....Bad combinaison. He was good for the first 2 months in the 2020 season but it was harder and harder after that

Yeah you’re right, the report I read was wrong, it was last season and when they wouldnt take a 3rd we pivoted to Rodgers.

We went 10-0 winning impressively, and then we had that game against the Ravens that we only barely won. Even though we won I remember people feeling like the season was over, the Steelers struggled so much that game. Then we lost to WTF (I know it's WFT, but WTF is more fun), and I remember their players saying "I knew it!" like the Ravens had discovered the Steelers weakness which the WTF and teams after that exploited, and that was pretty much that on the season. I never knew what that thing was, but discovering Ben's limitations could certainly have been it.

I also remember some key injuries on defense and after that the D wasn't as good. I also remember the Steelers getting jerked around in terms of game times because OTHER TEAMS didn't follow the covid rules. We played the Ravens on a freakin' Wednesday, then the WFT on Monday five days later.

Freaking surprise that we won that many games with everyone knowing what we were doing on D forever. They must have been superhuman. LoL

The defense lost Dupree and Bush to knee injuries, that Washington story gets overblown everybody knew the Steelers were winning with smoke and mirrors.

Not so superhuman, won just 1 game after that 11-0 start and then got embarrassed in the playoffs.

It’s almost like what Ebron said was true.

Everyone that watched could tell we collapsed after Ben got cut in half, and even though he played he wasn't the same after that. Yes other things factored into it, but that was the biggest thing I seen.

The defense was legitimately good before the injuries hit. Their strength was the play by Dupree and Watt on the edges. Losing Dupree was brutal.

They were robbed of their bye week because the Titans violated the league protocols. The fiasco with the game against the Ravens hurt, too.

The offense's issues, especially Roethlisberger's knees, would have eventually caught up with them, but they had some very bad luck, too.

Fact checking Ebron and threw in Rodgers for comparison.

    Rodgers Avg = 16%
    Roethlisberger Avg = 11%

Not sure if yinz remembered but I was pleasantly surprised how much AR threw from under center early in the season last year. But this also shows how much it dropped in subsequent weeks.

[Note: gaps are either bye weeks, the QB was out, or in the case of Wk1-Roethlisberger, Wk13-Rodgers threw 0% from under center]

    McCoy is a clown

The same Antonio Brown who was cut by 3 different teams in short period of time because of off-field issue or huge cancer in the lockeroom like crazy

You could feel it. I predicted the Skins would beat us. I remember the young Steeler fans I know getting cocky. Talking undefeated season. I kept telling them they must not be watching the games. That was not a dominate 11-0. More like the skin of your teeth.

I got pissed when they said I bet I was happy because I was right. F NO I was not happy to be right. I really wanted to be wrong but I felt I was being realistic.

Ben was done after 2018. Too bad the Rooneys couldnt accept that.

    2011-2018 was our window.

Really, Ben and Tomlin shouldve left/retired together at that time

Also...Ben wasn't accurate on deep balls and couldn't make them pay for being super-aggressive (e.g. S being LBs like he said).

I think the surprising thing about this season is not that we got found out and played poorly at the end, it's that we won 11 straight.

I think it's just that Ben had such an amazing reputation for punishing teams for coming after him that they were slow to embrace the strategy of "attack and don't worry about the deep ball".

Yep, we had the guns to get #7 during that window. I expected it a few of those years. IMO a lenient certain Head Coach was to blame.

Sure, use a racist jerk like McCoy to bash Big Ben.

McCoy quoting Rosenhaus....now there are some sources you can really count on! :roflmao:

You are nothing if not consistent. Consistently idiotic.
