Terry was a big game Qb. Thrived in big moments. He called his own plays and really studied. But credits Noll with pushing him and making him successful.

Only Brady had more playoffs win that Roethlisberger from 2004 to 2021.Ben was also 13-6 in the first 19 playoffs games,so only 1 less playoffs win that what Bradshaw had after 19 games.But both was great QB,this is possible to appreciate both!

One thing is sure,Tomlin would loved to have a 13-10 career playoffs record....

The last 15 years have been forgettable. Ive been ready to move on for eight years now.

I was always 50/50 on Tomlin, not a fan but not a hater. I'll give him this he marched out Duck Hodges, Mason Rudolph, Mitch Trubisky, Kenny Pickett, Justin Fields, Russell Wilson and a 42 year old Aaron Rodgers and never had a losing record.

 

I define success by playoff performance and a coach's ability to over-achieve relative to their roster's talent, rather than just maintaining non-losing seasons!

In my view, Mike Tomlin inherited a loaded team with a franchise quarterback in his prime. Once Bill Cowher's players aged out, the coaching quality of his coaching suddenly declined. I believe his coordinator hires for offense and defense have been subpar, and his game management, use of challenges, and in-game coaching have been lacking.


The statistics reflect these issues:

- Overall Playoff Record: 8–12
- Last Playoff Win: 2016 AFC Divisional Round (vs. Chiefs)
- Playoff Losing Streak: 6 games (2017–2025)
- He did not make win a playoff game for 8 seasons in a row. This ties an NFL record with Marvin Lewis who had bad talent.

While I personally find him likable, his recent track record on the above is bad.

 

I don't really want to pile on Tomlin, but I didn't really even find him likable in recent history. He thumped his chest, talked with the press in a bit of a condescending way, barked at a fan on the way to the locker room. I'm sure most players outside of James Harrison found him likable. But I found him more likable early in his career. Maybe my impression was clouded by his early career success and late career playoff loss humiliations?

 

That's certainly a glass-half-full take. Along with 2 Super Bowl appearances and 1 ring.

The glass-half-empty take is only 4 out of 19 seasons with a playoff win, and ending his Steelers career with 6 wildcard playoff embarrassments.

 

I agree with the recent history part 100%

Don't be so sure Harrison is the only player who dislikes him. Now that he's gone, players can feel more free to speak thier minds.

Expect to hear more on Tomlin's criticism of his players now.

Third on that list is still pretty damn good. They are all Hall of Fame coaches.

 

Not yet. Some incredibly stupid GM and owner may hire him and WE may benefit (draft pick)? After that you can forget about him.

Making an AFCCG in 2015 was forgettable? Tough crowd.

I think the Jags loss in the playoffs was a good year with high expectations but ended with a dud. Thing is, we never matched up with that Jags team.

Everything after that was meh.. even the 11 game win streak. It felt hollow because half the games had no crowds.

I actually wanted Tomlin gone after the AFCCG vs the Pats. But I was angry.. lol.

 

I think the orange part here is really critical. Especially if we're talking about post-Ben's injury.
