I dont care about completion percentage against ILB's because the the league average is 70-75% right where Queen landed. Do you know why that it is? Because ILB when they drop into coverage they are typically in zones and defending much shorter routes, also they are also defending multiple routes because they have to account for running backs and tight ends operating in the flats and the seams. You also say he led the team in missed tackles, well he also led the team in tackles. Which means he is the guy always around the ball, that is what you want in underneath coverage a guy who can play in space sideline to sideline with his eyes in the backfield. Forget Queen for minute, there is a reason teams across the league dont pull their ILB off the field and replace him with a DB, the coverage is simply different.

I'm not here to blindly defend anyone; let's look at the 2025 season numbers (his second year with Pittsburgh). 2025 Patrick Queen Coverage Stats (PFF & public reports)

PFF Coverage Grade: 31.3–32.4 ranked 83rd out of 88 qualified linebackers (bottom 5–6%).
Targets: 91–94
Completions allowed: 75 completion % against
Yards allowed: 814–829 (8.9 yards per target)
TDs allowed: 3
Passer rating when targeted: 114.9–115.5

He also had major tackling issues (31–32 missed tackles, highest or near-highest among qualifiers, a 21% miss rate). Elite or even average ILBs are expected to hold up in space, match TEs/RBs, and limit YAC. Queen’s metrics show he struggled badly with that in 2025.How he compares to other ILBsTop coverage LBs/ILBs in 2025 (PFF grades) were in a completely different tier:

Fred Warner (49ers) — elite coverage (on pace for 91+ before injury)
Jack Campbell (Lions) — very high overall, strong in coverage
Devin Lloyd, Zack Baun, Devin Bush (in some schemes), etc. — many posting 80+ coverage grades

Queen’s coverage grade was dramatically below average for a starting ILB with his snap volume. IE: he's bad, not average. Most good-to-elite ILBs who play heavy coverage snap counts sit in the 65–85+ range in PFF. Bottom-tier guys are the ones allowing big completion % and high passer ratings like he did. I dont care about PFF grades, if you actually comprehended what I wrote you would know why Queen stays on the field and other ILB's stay on the field on 3rd and long. Whether or not you want or think Queen should stay on the field I dont really care.
