well i am with joel on this one. we will need another gunner besides skowronek. it won't be wetjen or wilson if he makes it. not sure if any backup corners are it either. probably not echols, samuel or ramsey. maybe everette. maybe homer if he makes it. won't know much until farther down the road into preseason, but he makes a good point about the forced fumbles and speed of spears jennings.

 

Looking at ESPN's current depth Chart; Why don't you think Jennings can slide right into Darnell Savage's backup Free Safety spot?



I still have no idea what the hell Darnell Savage's current Steeler contract situation is.

 

Weird how they can list someone that doesn't have a signed contract yet.

castro has some ability as a strong safety. he was a priority UDFA for us that was poached off the PS. later last year we got him back off of waivers. the kid was pretty good at Iowa. his speed is the worry. 4.58 better around the line and short area. might be the best that we have after elliott right now.

 

I certainly hope Everette can be useful on special teams while he tries to figure out how to be helpful on defense.

 

ST lost several. Makes sense there would be some focus on that group this offseason.

 

This will make it harder for Jennigs and Castro to make the 53-man roster, but you can't turn Darnell Savage down for a Vet reduced Minimum contract. After the Discount he only costs the Steelers $1.26 million against the cap.

Savage is on his 5th team in the last 4 years. That should tell you something.

Deshaun Elliott is listed on the NFL injury report as questionable to start the season
