I got and I get your point.

I ask you again, do you want a sub-mediocre "seasoned" or "experienced" backup or would YOU rather roll with a young backup with upside and uncover any warts now, rather than kicking the ole can down the road...again?

Stop pretending you can read coaches minds, you can't. Not ALL HC's would reach for the mediocre backup over upside youth, especially one that prides himself on being some kind of Q.B. guru.

So, I actually think you're WRONG when it comes to McCarthy, but if he keeps Rudolph or trades for some career retread QB and bumps Allar or Howard off the active 53 man, then you'll be proven more right than I on this one.

    Fair enough?

I'll post no more about it, you can have the last word.

What part of I don't know what they will do has escape you. I said most HC wouldn't do this. I never said McCarthy would. Tell me the last time You know of a HC going into the season without a backup Qb that didn't have any NFL experience. Last I can think of was the Browns last year, and they waited till week 5 to do that, so they really didn't go into the season that way, and guess what, they fired their HC afterwards. Nobody, but you said anything about reading a HCs mind. I'm only telling you history. Not the complicated thing you, and many others are trying to make it.

Wow. Robert Spillane looks better 8 years later, and was originally let go by the same coach that he now looks better with. LoL

I gotta think the injury is worse than people are saying, or why would a guy of his caliber have team after team pass on him??

I would state this may be more for Aaron Rodgers given how those two had the fallout. As far as double M is concerned, Roman Wilson is likw the rest of the WR Room; a fresh start with plenty to prove. Given how Pittsburgh could still use another WR in that room, I would still say that Roman Wilson has a shot to make something happen.

Will he though remains the question.

WalterFootball has the article here. States that a second corrective knee surgery is required; forcing him to miss all of 2026. If that is what scared the Steelers away, I suppose that is an acceptable answer given how prior to Everette, the depth at Boundry Corner was rail thin.

Having a solid depth piece in Everette does make the room stronger by virtue of talent heading into the season.

Well... Patrick Graham does like to work with versatile DBs. Perhaps he and Jason Simmons (Defensive Pass-Game Coordinator/Defensive Backs Coach) see a lot more in Everette than being just a Corner. That said, I would still keep him at the Boundry spot.

I don't think Robert Spears Jennings will ever be a Pro Bowl Caliber player but he does have starting potential if he can be developed right.

Agree. If it were just a matter of him having another surgery and being ready in 2027, he goes much earlier. If someone drafted him in the 2nd round in that scenario it’s like trading your second rounder for a 1st round rookie CB in 2027. Easy choice. There has to be a lot more risk to his situation than just missing 1 season.
