Time to send Davis back to AAA. Endy and Bart when he comes back. Then trade Bart and have Flores come up. At deadline I would try to move Reynolds. Go young all the way.

When Dotel pitches Mr. Ed comes to mind.

    Magic number #60
We need a legitimate winning streak

This division has to be the biggest surprise so far in MLB.

They're definitely going to need this factoid today as Bubba's on the mound again. He was lights out last year when he first arrived but then swooned later and well into this year. He represents almost 25% of Pirate losses this year. Looking ahead, they are showing Jones as the starter this Friday against the Twins. That might be the end of Bubba as a starter for awhile, depending on how Jones does.

Necessary moves: DFA Ozuna. Bring Ronny Simón up. Valdez plays more CF. Cruz plays more DH. Triolo may be about done. Trade or release him, use roster spot for a decent relief pitcher on a team that is going nowhere.
It is a breath of fresh air to think of the Pirates being buyers, and not just flipping veterans to contending clubs for middling prospects.
So far they have nothing to be ashamed of. Most of what they tried has worked, Ozuna has not.

Didn’t Bubba have 11 Ks his last outing?
    Bucco bats were quiet
Than BP came in and do what they do
Everyone banking on Jones as some kind of a savior
Pirates have an awesome SP rotation already without Jones
Problem lies in our Ca Ca BP

    Like your way of thinking
Ozuna a $12 million dollar bust

Yes. The thing is, he is a sunk cost at this point. They owe him for this season and a buyout for next (no way they use that second year option). If they DFA him, they owe the money. If they DON’T DFA him, they owe him the same money but will be out the wins too. And the 2027 season is not a given. Whatever is to be done must be done very soon.
I bet you if I looked, I could find two AAAA players with large platoon differentials (one who likes righty pitching, one who likes lefty pitching) who would not cost a lot to acquire. Players like that, stuck in AAA and unable to keep a major league job, are always available.
Together I bet they would cost half of Ozuna’s salary.

Love how they're sticking it to the Cubbies in a very close game and then a laugher to extend their losing streak to 10 games. This follows two 10 game winning streaks already this year. Will it continue? Sure hope so. Never cared for Counsel as a player, disliked him as the Brewfarts Mgr, and hate him as the Cubs Mgr. This is grand. Beat em Bucs! :thumbs up:

He's not exactly as lame as Derek Bell's Operation Shutdown in 2002, but his skill set is diminishing rapidly. I don't think it's intentional (like Bell) but it's clear he's not even close to a reasonable DH. Chuck Noll would have some subtle advice for him.

Pirates sure could use a 10 game win streak
If they could pull it off
We are a playoff team this season

Not happy that O'Hearn got injured but it motivated to Bucs to bring a few more rooks up to the Big Show to see what they could do. Coupled with the year that Lowe, Horowitz and O'Hearn are putting together so far (plus Nicky Gonz and Reynolds helping out) the additions of Griffin, Valdez and Garcia sure is more exciting than anything we've even sniffed for 10 years or so. Dotel seems to be a bright spot in the bullpen along with Soto (generally) - but it really helps when the starter can go 6+ innings like we've seen recently. Hope this young squad can withstand the Dog Days, a usual Achilles Heel for the Bucs for a long time. I'm happy.

Edit: Not with Bubba nor most of bullpen.

Cutch has been cut loose by the Rangers. No, the Pirates should not pick him up. His stats look worse than Ozuna’s. Cutch, it is time to hang up the spikes, father time is undefeated. At some point, it has to be enough.
Cutch belongs in the Hall of Pretty Good.

The AL is a surprise too. Only 4 of the 15 teams over .500 at the moment. The ALW leader is a game under .500.

Then the Bucs could be paired with their geographic rivalry, the Cleveland India.......errr Guardsmen or whatever they are now vs the Phillies who are much further away. MLB was doing that for a while.
