Is the NFL on the verge of causing its fans to suffer football fatigue?

I literally said division games belong in the US and that's my red line, so obviously I'd have an issue with the Steelers/Ravens being played overseas.

The NFL doesn't care about the fans at all the Rams and 49ers are opening the season in freaking Australia. It also screwed Steelers fans who live in the New Orleans area by having the game in Paris, who only get a chance to see the Steelers every 8 years. I saw a lot of complaining from them online.

So yes, I think it's dumb for the Rams and 49ers to play each other in Australia. I've said as much when it was announced. But as for the Steelers and Saints playing in France, I'd much rather visit Paris than New Orleans.

I dont know what thread I posted it in but there is a video of Schlereth talking about Rodgers but after that they get into this topic and they made a great point, the decisions arent being made for the old loyal fans of now, they are being made for future generations, the ones who have every streaming service and all this is just a way of life for them.

And then I also believe gambling caters to a different fan, casuals that just love to gamble, same with fantasy football although that has been going on for a while. This will all keep people tuned in.

So whoever said it here, you’re right, the NFL doesnt care about us fans, they’re thinking ahead.

This. My old Bass player, and I talked about going to that game. He's a Saints fan. Now neither of us will go.

Money ruined pro baseball and it is ruining pro football. But what other choices are there? The NFL is king right now and they're acting like kings doing whatever they want to make another nickel. I think people will start turning it off and find other pastimes.

Yeah, but what about all the Steeler Fans in Europe that will be able to attend their first ever Steeler game?

But, right now I would be worried about getting a fueled up jet back from Paris with the Jet Fuel Crisis currently happening over in Europe: Getting there should not be a problem, coming back though, your flight might get cancelled :)

Funny, Right now I am looking at a repositioning cruise out of Rome 5 days later that would cost the same as my 1-way plane ticket back home out of Paris. I may be able to talk myself into this. :)

October looks like a good month to take a slow boat ride back to Miami.

There are more Steelers fans in America that are getting screwed by moving the game from New Orleans to Paris.

Do you know how close K-town, Baumholder & other US bases are to the French border? I was north of Frankfurt for 3 years and would make the trip to Paris in a heartbeat to see the Steelers. Your knowledge of the military seems lacking.

There was a time when you couldn’t see any games if you were out of market.

I get being “mad” at having to jump from service to service for a few games a year but the reality is watching EVERY GAME isn’t going to be free. What did we do before Sunday Ticket if we were out of market? We watched the score update, on radio or went to a sports bar and paid for the whole Sunday Ticket in 2 or 3 bar tabs.

Here is what I do and tell everyone else to do. Get NFL+ premium for $14.99 a month or $99 per season.

    NFL+ Premium includes access to:

    • Live local & primetime regular season and postseason games on your phone or tablet
    • NFL Network
    • Live out-of-market preseason games
    • Live game audio (home, away, & national calls) for every game
    • NFL library programming on-demand and ad-free
    • Ad-free game highlights
    • NFL RedZone
    • NFL Pro
    • Game replays (full game, condensed game, and all-22 coaches film)

yeah, string can get expensive but for lost services you can just cancel at any time.

Its been a loooong time since I had cable but pretty sure you had to sign a yearly subscription at minimum.

my boss is a bit older and he was shocked when I told him I sign up for a service and cancel immediately if its a free trial or cancel after a month.

over air is spotty where I live so I used to get Paramount+ for a month or 2 to watch college and NFL games.

It was like a cheat code to him since he used to live in Pittsburgh and still follows the Steelers. (I live in NC)

Not that I would watch every game (some are unwatchable) but.....

"The NFL can’t keep hiding behind the “87% of games are still free on TV” talk while taking out more matchups for paid streaming services. Fans aren’t stupid. We know what’s happening.
Today, it’s one Thanksgiving Eve game on Netflix. Tomorrow, it’s your team’s biggest late-season matchup locked behind another paywall.
If you hope to watch it all, you will need access to 10 platforms: Netflix, Prime Video, NFL Network, NBC, Fox, CBS, ESPN, Paramount+, YouTube TV, and NFL Sunday Ticket.

If you ask me what I'm missing out on if I don’t dole out the dough for the 13% games, here’s what may offer you some perspective:
The NFL also clusters most Sunday games into three time slots. So, we can watch only up to three games these days, unless we subscribe to the NFL Sunday Ticket.
In a nutshell, there’s a hidden price to pay for being a die-hard NFL fan in 2026. We explore all that here.

The NFL has been pulling this off slowly enough that most fans barely noticed. This season watching everything costs you north of $600 a year."

197 games are played on Sundays over the course of a season. Down from 211 the first year of the 18 game season.

To me.. more stand alone prime time games on during the holiday season is a better experience and obviously better for ratings.

but of course people will complain because they want all the games to be free.

okay.. again I ask. When were we able to watch all these games for FREE?

These arguments always come across like we had a free Sunday Ticket before the NFL got greedy.

We could never watch all these games back in the day.

The NFL gives you options to watch almost EVERY game with Sunday Ticket. You can also watch RedZone for a fraction of the cost and see almost every TD and big play right after it happens.

I’m sure its a little frustrating for a few people who can’t watch the Browns vs Jags on Prime on a Thursday but overall I think this is way overblown.

People are complaining because you need too many different streaming services to watch the NFL, RedZone sucks now I can see Steelers highlights on twitter before they get around to showing it.
