Ravens were willing to part with Flacco and retool their entire offense to take advantage of Jackson’s strengths. We were extremely loyal to Ben and he wasn’t going anywhere. And anyone thinking Tomlin would have retooled the offense is delusional. Probability is Jackson would have been a “bust” similar to Sam Darnold or Daniel Jones had Steelers drafted him

Steelers haven't won a playoff game since the 2016 season for many reasons, poor drafting is certainly one of them.

For many of us, it isn't hindsight to say Edmunds was a terrible pick. Many of us wrote that the day he was drafted.

Hurts isn't as bad. I think a great deal of his success was landing in a great situation with the Eagles. Also, they got one really good year out of Claypool, then they flipped him for the second-round pick they used to take Porter.

What I said was true about the Haley hire. I remember seeing articles about ARII and his preoccupation with Roethlisberger and his style of play. Haley was a hire instigated by the Master and Commander of the Steelers to prolong Ben's career. Tomlin likely would have stuck with Arians... if Arians didn't have bigger aspirations such as HC. Turns out, he did.

I believe he's 3-5 in playoff games. Not exactly stellar.

He knows this, or he's slow , and I don't believe hes slow so.... He's just trying to start an argument. That would be like asking McVay, or Fat Andy to develop the LBs. They don't.

At least LJ has won 3 playoff games. How many playoff games have Steelers won since LJ was a rookie?

How many QBs in recent years have had such a disparity in regular season success and postseason success? Also, can anyone think of a QB who has had his franchise put as much around him to be successful without delivering when it counts? The Ravens consistently build top 5 rosters and build out their running game to protect him from needing to carry the team with his arm. Everything there has been built specifically for Lamar.

What the hell are you talking about with passing on Mahomes. Mahomes went #10 to the Chiefs, and the Steelers picked #30 that year and took TJ Watt.

I understand stand the passing on Brady thing, because all 32 teams passed on Brady multiple times, but come on man!!!! The Steelers never passed on Patrick Mahomes!

So we're mad about skipping on a QB who would've rode the bench at least 4-5 seasons. I'd personally be more upset at not attempting to trade up for someone a like Bo Nix a few years back.

Bo Nix? I thought Nix was a huge reach at #12, and would have been pissed if the Steelers used 2 first round picks to move up and take Bo Nix.

Nix has exceeded expectations under Sean Payton, but if he would have landed in Pittsburgh I don't see him being any better than Kenny Picket with that coaching staff.

That's fair. I'm not upset at all tbh. Just threw his name out out there as someone that was attainable these past 5 seasons. Same kinda applies to Dart. He kinda exceeded expectations with the Giants but probably wouldn't have been as successful if the Steelers took him last year.

Green font. Don't take it so seriously.

Arians and Ben were a match made in heaven for the "no risk it no biscuit" point of view but they also would've flamed out. Like you pointed out, Arians and Ben together were going to get Ben killed.

Now Dart is a whole other conversation. Dart was still on the board when the Steelers drafted at #21. Later, picked at #25 by the Giants. So, you can definitely say the Steelers passed on Jackson Dart because they did.

I know there were a lot of people here who wanted the Steelers to take Dart in the 1st round; I was not one of them.

Too Early to give Tomlin and Khan a D'OH moment for passing on Jackson Dart, but it may be coming soon.

    This.

For that matter, this is the sole reason that people need to stop using False Equivalence when comparing the Lamar vs Marino situation. Marino was either the best or arguably the best passer ever to play in the NFL. Due to that, any Offense absent using QB Mobility as a Weapon would work. As for Lamar, completely different.

For those that remember, my main claim back in 2018 against drafting Lamar was that Lamar himself had to be the Offense for his skillset simply was incompatible with Pittsburghs Offense. To achieve this, a massive if not complete overhaul of the Offensive Coaching Staff would have been needed for that staff ran through whatever Big Ben wanted. Lamar would have never worked in Pittsburgh.

Credit to Baltimore for undergoing such a transformation to get Lamar to where he is today; a 2 Time NFL MVP and no doubt a bust awaiting him in Canton Ohio someday. That said, for all his Regular Season success, his postseason success has been abysmal. For me, his window shut in 2023 when Baltimore fielded the best Roster in Franchise History. The 2000 Ravens had the superior Defense but neither them nor the 2012 Ravens had the Offense 2023 had.

This will prove true if Derrick Harmon doesnt stay healthy for the remainder of his Contract. I expect him to do so. Moreoever to the point, I anticipate a Pro Bowl from him this season.

LOL... What point remains..... The Steelers DID NOT PASS ON MAHOMES!!!!!

Why are you saying they did? The Steelers were drafting 30th that year, and Mahomes went 10th. I know your not the sharpest tack in the box, but it is simple math. 10 comes way before 30.

Dart hasn't proven anything yet, if he doesn't change his playing style he won't last long in the NFL.

That doesn't make him not a great player though... Aaron Rodgers is 11-11 in the playoffs and is an all time great. Peyton Manning 14-13 (9-10 in Indy), also an all time great. Drew Brees 9-9 again, all time great... Many on here talk about how Ben sucked in the playoffs, but he was better record wise than all three of these guys at 13-10.

Lamar is a great player. Had we drafted him, our franchise is likely in a better spot right now than it is today. That's just the truth.
