Iheanachor to play RT

Especially since my understanding is that he (and others in his class) was an N=1 case because the pandemic gave him an extra year of staring experience, so you couldn't even really compare him to other NCAA players who had 5 years as a starter at QB.

 

It's done all the time in the football mainly because you try playing who's best at that position. Example: It doesn't matter if say a guy has played LT his whole life if He can't beat out the LT that is already there at the time, but he can beat out the RT, then you put him at right tackle. It's that simple. Your job is to make the best line You can for that year, nothing more, nothing less

 

LOL, Was it me, or did I just hear Mike McCarthy refer to Max as TheAnchor???

Everyone said I was crazy when I kept reading Max's name as Max TheAnchor. I can feel the birth of a new Nickname for Max!


Just put TheAnchor at Right Tackle for the next 15 years and be done with it.

Hmm, LOL, how can You bring something up, and then act like You don't know what people are talking about?.....could I be talking about Jones who You , yourself brought into the conversation. Jones didn't play LT because He couldn't beat out the LT we had, but he could beat out the RT we had. So he played RT untill the LT he couldn't beat out left.
Also again @jeh1856 agreed with You even though I can show You multiple post of him saying Jones was playing RT because he couldn't beat out the LT we had. His opinion changes by whomever is making the post. LoL. Get off the fence Jeh1856. LoL

Mindless is counting on some guy they just signed as a rookie camp tryout like Crippen.

If Jones surprises us and works his way back, or they like Cook better, then moving Fautanu inside is an option. The way the Texans turned Fautanu into a turnstile in the playoff game, not the only time it happened in 2025, also makes that an option worth considering.

 

Don't OL get moved around all the time when they go from college to the NFL? I don't think this is unique to the Steelers.

Because guys like Dunker have basically no chance of making it at OT in the NFL. So they kick inside.

Jones was better as a RT than he was as a LT. I think his best play for us was right when he started at RT. Maybe that's because other teams didn't have film on him yet though.

IMO, the reason he seems to have failed is more because he was super-raw (fewer college games than Max). We made a bet on the traits and that we could turn him into a long time NFL starter. Not a bad bet toward the end of the 1st round IMO. Because you aren't going to get "clean" LT prospects where we picked Jones (or Max).
