Man, you are desperate, trying to compare TD/INT ratios of a quarterback from the '70s to today. Wow. I don't even have the patience to educate you on that one.

You’re going to waste time developing a 30 year old, are you kidding me, Mac.

Yes, you are. Or perhaps you know so little about football that you don't understand the difference between the game in Bradshaw's era and now.

Speaking if clickbait, since when does Strackbein have access to the locker room? I thought he was just a pod guy.

I don't think there is near the development needed for him compared to a rookie and a 1st year guy. Maybe not ideal but if the guy could give you 10-12 years of winning football who cares.

No nincompoop, I was comparing intent and being aggressive. I mentioned that Mason moves the ball and he tends to be aggressive. Interceptions come with being aggressive. Bradshaw and Favre were aggressive and both had high interceptions. I never said Mason is comparable to Bradshaw or Favre you idiot. Mason career record is 30 TD versus 22 interception, which would be considered good ratio for a bygone era where DB's could play more aggressively and qb's could be hit. I mentioned grabbing at straws because I have mentioned before that your favorite strategy is to create a strawmen and knock it down. You are an amateur.

I see that having your points so consistently torn apart is getting to you. Please refrain from the childish name-calling. All it does is make your arguments even weaker, and they need all the help they can get.

Nowhere in my post did I mention Favre. Nowhere in my post did I claim that you said Rudolph was comparable to Bradshaw. What you just did is exactly what you falsely accused me of doing. You used a straw man argument. That you also didn't understand how grabbing at straws is used just makes what you wrote look even worse.

Good quarterbacks are aggressive and still do better than nine touchdowns and nine interceptions, as Rudolph did with the Titans, so your latest excuse for him is just as bad as the rest.

How many times has Rudolph been a free agent? How many times has the entire league had a shot at him, and no one wanted him as a starter? Hell, he had one year that no one would even give him a backup job, so he had to crawl back to the Steelers knowing he would be No. 3. He is a middling backup and nothing more. Most football observers in and outside the league know that. Why don't you?

10-12 years is extremely optimistic, even if MM elevated his game for him to become a serviceable QB, you’d get maybe 5 good years while ignoring two younger QB with higher upside.

Rudolph will be lucky to be on the roster this season.

Pittsburgh’s approach was built for this
Allar understands there’s a long way to go, and plenty of football still to pick up. The Steelers seem fine with that. The way they structured minicamp showed they’re more focused on getting his daily habits right than worrying about early impressions.

Running the camp without other quarterbacks didn’t suddenly push Allar closer to a starting role, but it did give the Steelers a clear first look at how he handles coaching, processes information, and applies feedback in real-time. That’s about as much as you can ask for from a rookie weekend.

you don't think he's farther along already than this or howard?

he may not be here or he may be the starter. it all depends on one guy. seems like they are willing to waste at least one year on a guy 13 years older than mason.

Football is about creating excitement and putting people in the seat. Teams have a tendency to go with new shiny things. Just like Vikings went with JJ McCarthy over Sam Darnold or Steelers went with Pickett over Mason, teams will go with rookies etc. Mason is never going to be elite and now he is 30 years old that's why teams will never sign him to be a starter. His chance is to have a starter go down, and he takes team to the playoffs to become a starter....just like Sam Darnold did when JJ McCarthy went down with Vikings. If JJ McCarthy had not gone down, Sam Darnold would still be a backup. Geno Smith also got in right situation to become starter again. Mason's bad fortune was he signed with one of the worst Team in nfl in decades. NFL has been wrong about a lot of qb's and its a business about putting people in seats. Mason will probably getting signed as a back up for a long time rather than be out of the league because teams know he will give you a 500 record. My opinion is that he is a better option for Steelers than signing a retread QB. I assume that you want to sign a retread high priced qb as you oppose Mason, or you just hate him because he proved you wrong with Pickett.

Imagine to compare a QB with 17 starts vs only 3 starts....Everyone can win 3 starts in a row.I mean the duck won his first 3 starts in 2019

I wouldn't waste a rep on Rudolph. Id start Howard this season if Rodgers doesn’t come back.

That guy is a future Hall of Famer who is still a solid NFL starter, not a middling backup like Rudolph.

I'm not sure what there is to indicate Allar is farther along than Howard. He may get more of a chance because he is McCarthy's pick and Howard was not, but that isn't the same thing.

Rudolph isn't going to get pushed out because the NFL likes shiny things. If he gets pushed out, it will be because Rodgers is a far better quarterback and both Howard and Allar have the potential to develop into something more than a mediocre backup. I don't like either guy's chances, but it is better than the zero percent chance you get with Rudolph.

Darnold is far more talented than Rudolph. So is Smith. Arguing that Rudolph can suddenly become a quality starter because they did is like saying Howard is headed to the Hall of Fame because he was drafted the same round as Tom Brady.

I don't hate Rudolph. Unlike you, I'm not being emotional about this. I simply see him for what he is, something that is beyond your capacity.

Agree. And in the past under Tomlin, I'm sure we'd start Rudolph if Rodgers didn't come back. But now with McCarthy, it'll be interesting to see his philosophy of managing the position.

I agree with the first half

Regarding the second half I would start the better of Howard or Allar

Howard has done nothing to show he remotely should be the starter any more than Alllar
