Actually if you are interested in facts

Steelers coaches told him to focus on the right side

They did not tell him he will be playing on the right side

    Big difference

Wanna bet he get paid over 5 million a year for his next contract?

    You are a funny guy.

Yawn, I bet he will make at least 5x the amount he is scheduled to make in 2026. Try that hat on for size, though it might clash with your clown like feet and nose. Any takers?

Get back to me on the average cap# of starting left tackles in free agency in 2026 and we can guess what Cook will make in 2027.

If he starts and plays like last year Joel os ABSOLUTELY RIGHT.

Dan Moores cap hit thos year is more that TWICE THAT OF THE STEELERS ENTIRE OFFENSIVE LINE.

I guarantee that nobody here saw that coming. I wasn't here but if someone can pull up their prediction that he would make anything close to his contract I will give them props. Cook played better than Moore, just has a small sample size. One more year at that level and dude gets rich quick. Even low end starting Left tackles get paid bank.

Not sure, I think Max is better than he is getting credit for at the moment but might be asking a lot to start the season there. I wont be surprised if he does though.

    Thats my politician answer.

    Ok

But for what it’s worth the article I found said the coaches told him to focus on right

    So right it is

    For now

I heard the new quarterback is completing passes throwing against imaginary defenders!

We always hear early reports and some people always overreact to information and try to give definitive answers to questions that they can't possibly know yet. They are guesses.

I think it's natural for some optimism and some pessimism, but this is just the start of a process. We really won't get a better idea who is playing where, or who has been performing well for a while.

    Heck

Last training camp one knucklehead was tracking and posting passing statistics of quarterbacks throwing to players in shorts

Alex K (from the depot) does this every year.

I think it's fine to have the info. But I don't think he'd argue that it correlates all that well to in-season performance.

I think we saw both end of career Ben and Kenny have "perfect" passer ratings in the preseason. But then teams game plan in the regular season.

Yeah, we have been seeing statistics from the early days of camp for a while. I remember some folks here obsessing over Rudolph having better numbers the first week of camp, while ignoring that he was the worst of the quarterbacks in the preseason games.

I think this is a new regime with a coaching staff who has no attachment to the current tackles other than Max, but they know that Max is not yet a finished product. I can see - and I'd like this approach - throwing all these gladiators into the arena and seeing who comes out of it. I don't know that "natural side" is as big a deal for some players as others.

Long term goal is Max and Fautanu, but for this year, if Jones, Cook, or one of the others steps up, let them toughen the competition and earn the spot.

Or, if Jones bounces back and steps up or Cook takes a step forward, perhaps Fautanu ends up at guard.

Man, you brought back a memory. Pickett was pre-season gold as was that crappy OC. Then game 1 and WTF. LOL. It was UGLY from the first snap. Just reaffirms pre-season means nothing and proves nothing. It does get some valuable game reps, but it's not reps like anything you'll see in the regular season.

So if Allar or Howard are looking other-wordly, I'll be choking down the hugest grain of salt ever seen.

Fautanu/Cook - Dunker - Frazier - McCormick - Iheanachor....... could be a good young OL that could last for years. Potentially.

I was at the pre-season game where Kenny had 2 possessions and put up 14 first quarter points against the Bills. People around me were making claims about how unstoppable KP and this offense were. The season ended with Matt Canada fired and KP on the bench watching Mason Rudolph lose to those same Bills in the playoffs.

Jones is working out with the team, so he just might pop in there. It'll be very interesting to see how he fits in if he's ready to go. Despite his shortcomings the past few years, the light switch may have turned on the right before he got injured.

I could see something like this moving forward: Jones LT, Fautanu LG, Frazier C, Dunker RG, Max RT
