Lots of Qbs had better film than Richardson, that's why I laughed so hard when he was drafted in the 1st round.

Good stuff. Lemon would have been a good fit, missed out on the slot receiver but got the guard.

I think they will try to use Eli in the slot. Him and Wetjen.

Edit: Actually Bernard played a lot more slot than I realized. So I guess they have options there.

One thing most draft " experts " have completely overlooked with Drew Allar is his elite ball security. In 45 college games, he threw just 13 interceptions on 1,002 pass attempts — that’s a ridiculous 1.3% interception rate. For a guy who played in the Big Ten against tough competition and defenses, that’s outstanding!

Even more impressive? His fumble rate is microscopic. Just 3 lost fumbles across those 45 games. Drew has an iron grip.

This is an A+ ball-security quarterback. Combine that with his big hands (9⅞" at the Combine), and his height at 6'5" and he should thrive on play-action fakes at the next level. At least that is what I think.

The right offense is the one that insists he fix his mechanics before he so much as sniffs the field.

Seems big for Kenny The Coward

But that was probably Tomlin’s fault

Spot on. Right you are. Tomlin green-lit the first-round pick of low-IQ (17 Wonderlic), sub-9" handed Kenny Pickett, whose arm had barely enough velocity to cut it in the NFL. 100%

Additionally, incorporating QB rollouts and waggles on say 3% of passing snaps would be smart as Allar as he can execute them and throw well on the run. It keeps the pass rush honest and adds an extra dimension to his game. Keep these plays simple. Use them to catch the defense off guard. I sure Mike M knows the art of play calling has a lot to do with keeping the opponent guessing.

Even if Allar stinks and gets cut in two years; he was still the right selection.

Steelers need to take big swings on QB until they connect on one.

Heck, take one next year, the year after that, and so on.

    Absolutely

You don’t pass on that type of talent if you can get it

You grab it as fast as you can

Even waiting later in the third would have been very foolish

I know this for a fact. If He fails , and MM doesn't turn him into this great Qb with all his Qb coaching magic, all the people saying this stuff will disappear like all the guys saying years back we should cut Boz.

People mock me around here for agreeing with some of Colin Cowherd's views on Steelers. Cowherd has been saying this for years on his show... Steelers should draft a QB every year until they land their next franchise QB after Roethlisberger.

LoL. He also said the Steelers should trade Watt for picks, and then use them to move up, and take S. Sanders as the 1st pick taken in the draft. LoL How freaking stupid would that have been when we could have gotten him in the 5th round.
If You throw enough $hit, some will stick.

I didn't agree with taking Sanders or trading Watt, at the time. I still think Sanders is overrated for Browns and not worth the hype he was getting before last year's draft. But, Steelers should be drafting a QB every year until we get one that STICKS.

Actually, in hindsight... and depending on how Watt performs this year... maybe Cowherd wasn't so wrong about trading him for picks while we could get something for him.

He was very wrong. Trading Watt for picks to move up to take a guy 1st in the first round when You can keep Watt, and draft the same guy in the 5th round. That's why he talks on tv, and doesn't run a team, because you would see how dumb some of his ideas are really quick when he ran a team into the ground.

Present day Watt is not prime Watt of 2018-2024. We'll see how this year goes. Fortunately for us, we have depth at OLB.

He could be old , and crippled Watt, and You still wouldn't trade him to move up, and take a player 1st in the first round that you could get for doing nothing, and still get in the 5th.

I read Bill Walsh's book, Building a Champion. He talked about how raw Steve Young was and how he had to basically reboot him and break his bad habits. I am not saying Allar is anywhere near as good as Young but there is a lot of clay there to be molded. We shall see.
