Given the magnitude of the guaranteed money I suspect Rooney was heavily involved with the decision.

There's nothing wrong with him starting say the first 6 games.
There's nothing wrong with him being the starter and then being overtaken. (Ex: We are sputtering on offense, and Howard or Allar are practicing well)
At 43, there's a high probability of injury.....
So, that statement carries so many possibilities. :drinks:

Interesting that you had very similar tone in 2023 and were convinced that he would fail before he came and had the best numbers of any qb in the nfl over 3 games. He’s been unlucky to have terrible talent and coaching around him in Tennessee and his first year of starting. He had concussion yes, but before his bad game against Cincinnati there was a national controversy about him being a racist. That would play on any 23 year old mind. He also had two of his best weapons out for Cleveland and Cincinnati game Juju and Connor (rb) were hurt. Anyways I think he is as good or better than quite a few qb in the league. I throw out the game against Cleveland and Cincinnati in 2023 because lack of weapons and racism controversy. If you throw those two games out his qb rating is in 90’s which is what an average qb in an nfl does. Elite is high 90’s or above hundred. He’s not the long term solution but much cheaper option and just as good an option than let’s say Jacoby Brisset or even almost 43 year old Rodgers. He has moments where he looks elite and moments where he looks very bad rather than someone who is just average all the time. His elite moments is what makes him attractive to me. If he can minimize the bad moments by getting good coaching he can have a Geno Smith type resurgence ( not a good analogy as Geno Smith went bad again , but getting point across)

They said he was coming to Pittsburgh I think him signing was speculation. From the sounds of it his agent is in talks trying to agree on term.

He has never been elite, not even in that three-game stretch in 2023. He threw three touchdowns in three games. That is not elite.

The true hypocrisy in your posts is how you want to make every excuse for Rudolph, like talking about teammates missing a game, but ignore things like the Bengals being an utter disaster by that point in the 2023 season or the Ravens sitting their top defenders two weeks later.

I honestly don't remember what I said about him having to step in to start for those games. My guess is that I was fine with benching Trubisky, but wasn't confident in Rudolph because I understand that he isn't good.

There is absolutely nothing in Rudolph's eight years in the NFL that indicates he can do even what Geno Smith did with the Seahawks.

And is this “sounds of it” from a reliable source

As far as him coming to Pittsburgh he appears to own a home near here

Maybe he is just doing spring cleaning and yard work

And the OP was not speculation it clearly stated he was coming back and was doing so to sign a contract

    Agree to disagree

I think he can teach the young guys a lot

And what is up with all of the double posting on the board now

Just another wasted year without seeing if either of these young QBs are capable at all. To be fair to Allar he isn’t ready yet obviously but we won’t know about Howard either then at the draft what do we do?
