Charlie throws out a piece of clickbait and people run with it

Why is it so hard for people to think on their own and check actual facts

I really like Charlie but he seems to be becoming like Ben and trying to be relevant

So last year he signed a 13.75 million dollars contract, and now they put a tag on him that would guarantee a 10% raise so that would take him to about 15.13 million, I believe off the top of my head, and they will probably throw in incentives. That's probably the starting price I would guess.

Rodgers still wants to play. At 42 I don't think the team will be willing to spread his pay over another season, so he's looking at a one year, but it's a coach he knows and they added good pieces to the offense. So I expect both sides will find a way to get it done.

I think this will be his last season. Nobody is going to want a QB of his age and persnickety personality. But the Steelers have positioned themselves to where he's their best option for 2026 so this is destiny, just a question of what kind of destiny. Hopefully the good kind.

Where did I say you argued that Rudolph was elite? You keep insisting he is good enough to be an NFL starter. He isn't. He has been in a quarterback-starved league since 2018 and he has done what backups do. He has largely been below average, with a smattering of good performances, almost all of them against defenses that would struggle to stop a good college team.

I like Batch but he's just spitballing here. Rodgers will play for less than $30M (w/o incentives) or he won't play for the Steelers.

Last year he said he money wasn’t a factor and it wasn’t

Why are people saying he is going to want twice as much now

Perhaps people remembered that Rodgers is egotistical and weird. He has shown a need in the past to want to be told he is the prettiest girl at the dance. For many athletes, that means getting paid. Just because he took a relatively cheap deal last year doesn't mean he is willing to do so again. I think everyone trying to guess what is in Rodgers' head right now is fooling themselves.

Rodgers may be eccentric, but it’s not like the Steelers fanbase is exactly known for being humble and normal either. Just look at any NFL gameday thread, it’s like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde after every play.

His QB rating since 2023 is in mid 90's. That's average. Just last year he played better than Rodgers against Cincinnati. Same opposition but Rudolph was more efficient. A lot has been made of his time in Tennessee. He gave the coach Callahan his first win coming in relief of Levi Willis against Miami in first quarter. Levis got the 'W' because he started. He also gave the coach his second win against Patriots. He scored 27 and 30 points against Cincinnati and Indianapolis respectively. Both were losses. He cannot play defense. Titans defense allowed opposition to score on long drives and had given up. Despite his time in Tennessee in adverse conditions and including his rookie year with Steelers, his record is 0.500. which is what an average Qb does. Get over the fact that he exposed your boy Pickett to be a fraud.

The guy who beat out Rudolph to start twice and his teams have a better career record wasn't my guy. I wanted Linderbaum. I just like correcting some of the idiocy spouted about Pickett here by the bitter fanboys who can't admit the team failed so miserably.

Rudolph didn't play as a rookie with the Steelers. He got a chance to play in his second season, but failed badly enough that he was benched for Duck Hodges.

A lot has been made of his time in Tennessee because it was further evidence that Rudolph isn't good enough to be a starter in the NFL. That you think the numbers that come mostly from his one touchdown drive in relief during a blowout of the Bengals mean something shows just what ridiculous rhetorical pretzels you are willing to twist yourself into in service of your devotion to Rudolph.

The guy has the occasional good moment against terrible opposition. That's not good enough to be a successful starter in the NFL.

I notice the OP still says “Rodgers is coming back”

Take this as a lesson to some of you youngsters not to get excited and be premature

You were Pickett's biggest fanboy on this message board. You can't find a bigger Pickett fanboy on on this board if you tried, and now want to change history. The reason why Mason was replaced by Duck has been discussed a million times by me. Also Steelers were barely up 10-6 against Cincinnati at half when Rodgers left last year. Mason guided them to 24 points in second half. It's interesting that you show up replying to all my post regarding Mason. I didn't realize how much Rudolph affected you psyche. You probably gloat when he fails. Now that Rogers return is far from certain, it's possible that Mason could be Steelers starting QB on opening day. Oh..that would make you so miserable. Miserable things happen to miserable people....so maybe that is in the cards.

I kind of hope that he is asking for $30MM and will retire if he doesn't get it. Because I think they'll just walk away at that number. Kahn has been really good at setting a value on a player and not caving (except for Watt I guess).

Then we're kind of backed into looking at the medium term instead of doing everything we can to win now (when we aren't good enough to do more than compete for a playoff spot).

I'm not changing anything. I have provided the receipts before. I was calling for them to pick Linderbaum for over a year leading up to the draft and that day as it unfolded. I preferred Pickett to Willis, who failed with the team that drafted him. I expressed my hope that the coaches knew what they were doing because they likely knew him better than the rest of the league. Since then, I have pushed back against false narratives based on self-serving leaks by the team and the ranting of a Penn State fanboy who hates Pickett because of where he went to college.

That you have made lame excuses for Rudolph losing his job to Hodges doesn't make it any better. He returned from his concussion and even had a decent game or two before his play fell apart, forcing the team to go back to Hodges. I would love it if Rudolph miraculously transformed into a competent starting quarterback in the NFL as long as it benefited the Steelers. He seems like a good guy. I'm nost not interested in feeding your delusions about a career backup who could easily be a late cut in training camp if Rodgers re-signs.

He has been overly stubborn about it on occasion, which made him giving Watt that ridiculous contract even more disappointing.
