Should Allar + the Offensive Line pan out, forget successful. It will be the best draft the Steelers have had in a very long time. Germie is the only one I am not worried about.

Would like to hear from the talking heads this year a consensus that we have "one of the better" offensive lines in the NFL before they year is over.

A good set up for a potential franchise QB in 2027 if Khan can swing that. At least have a competent O-line in front of him.

PFF stated that the Steelers are one of the most improved Offensive Lines coming out of the draft for what that is worth. As I see it, I will have to see it to believe it on the left side. Presumably Gennings Dunker is the starter and Troy Fautanu is flipped over to the Left Side. That leaves Max Iheanachor on the right side; the side he primarily manned at Arizona State.

    Time will tell.

More deflection due to embarrassment. Let me know when you gather the courage to actually have a discussion. We both know all you can do is run. Prove me correct again : )

If the Steelers end up with two starters out of this draft, then it was successful. If they end up with three starters then it is a great draft. I see one near-lock to be a starter. Hope to see another couple join him.

you think allar steps in and takes over? i believe a kid named howard may have something to say about that. heck a good line will make even mason look better. give our qb's a chance to make this thing work no matter the name. :smiley1::cool:

Who says I am giving up on Will?! I am talking about the 2026 Class in particular. Whomever does the better job shall be named starter.

Nice, and I'll take this two steps further. I'll also preface this with saying that I was optimistic with the Jones pick at the time, and shouldn't have been because one or maybe both of the conditions I'm going to give now were not met.

    1) Coaching and development. When a player is inexperienced, or however we're going to describe these guys, coaching is going to play a much greater role in their development and success. For example, a prospect like Vega, I expect him to thrive regardless as he's entering the league closer to being a polished, finished product. Pat Meyer was the coach, and I can't think of any lineman who developed above expectations under his watch. Combine that with the team prioritizing Dan Moore's limitations over the development of your first-rounder, and Jones did not get what was needed from the staff. Campen and Evans are unknowns on this team, but I'm confident that Max will at least be given more of a boost than Broderick got.

    2) Attitude. I don't recall ever seeing or hearing anything from or about Jones that he was a bulldog (pun intended). I mentioned in another post that it was last year that he arrived in the best shape of his life. I applaud him for that, but why in his third year? Max has both an unusually high level of confidence in himself, and a nasty streak on the field. He looks and sounds like he wants to be the best he can be. If he can combine that with the humility needed to take coaching, match that with his god-given size and ability, he looks like he's on a different path than Jones was when he arrived.

Steelers’ Underrated Offensive Line Earns Surprising Year-End Ranking
    Tyler Maher
    Tue, Jan 6, 2026
The Pittsburgh Steelers are playoff-bound, but the odds are against them actually winning a postseason game.

That’s because they don’t do anything particularly well. Their offense and defense are average at best. They don’t run the ball well and their passing game is limited.

However, one area where the Steelers excel is the offensive line. According to PFSN’s OL impact metric, Pittsburgh ranked third this season behind only the Los Angeles Rams and Chicago Bears.

Those are two of the best offenses in the NFL, so the Steelers must be doing something right.

The highest-graded NFL offensive lines this season, according to PFSN's OL Impact Metric:

When you have a 42-year-old quarterback like Aaron Rodgers, keeping him upright is critical. Pittsburgh did a good job protecting him this season, as his 29 sacks taken were his fewest since 2020.

The Steelers also gave Rodgers time to throw, helping him post his best completion rate and passer rating since his last MVP campaign in 2021.

Pittsburgh’s offensive line also did a good job run blocking, helping running backs Jaylen Warren and Kenneth Gainwell have the best seasons of their careers. The Steelers’ offensive line improved over the course of the season, and so did their running backs.

This generality doesn't always hold up, especially in a draft like this, when the Steelers had all those extra draft picks. That needs to raise the expectations.

It isn't just about numbers. Guys can be starters and still disappointing. See Terrell Edmunds.

And then the Texans’ defensive front blasted our O line straight into the 2026 season.

    How can this be :hmmm:

    Broderick is a bust

Pat Meyer was a horrible OL coach (hired by the Bills as OL coach)

Rodgers was afraid of being hit :lollmao:

Ziggy Hood and Bud Dupree's first 2-3 seasons also qualify. 1st round draft picks like Edmunds. They weren't awful like Jones, Burns and Bush... but not 1st round worthy.

It was a stalemate until the 4th quarter.... against the second best defense in the league. Decent for a young line.

Wasn’t the stalemate really that both defenses were shutting down the offenses, keeping the score low? It really wasn’t pretty up front offensively all day, it just went from not pretty to utterly disastrous in the 4th quarter.
