Appears you haven't read, but only scanned through it. That is not what they are saying. Hell they don't even know what they are saying.

 

I think its a very stupid idea when I hear people say we should tank. First and foremost I would never be a fan of any organization or any player who deemed it necessary or thought prudent to " tank" to start fresh and wipe the slate clean. Professionals don't do this. At least not in my world. I have had recently someone spew that garbage. Yikes. Really is that how we want to play it.

The Raiders just drafted a rookie. He still needs to prove that he is a franchise quarterback.

 

He thinks getting to the Super Bowl isn't that hard, even though only two teams per year make it vs 14 who make the playoffs,almost half of the league and this is not that hard when the AFC has so many bad teams like the Titans, Browns, Raiders, and Jets year after year

 

The Eagles finished 4-11-1 in 2020 and had the 6th overall pick in 2021, I think, but they traded down to 12 to get an additional first-round pick for the following year. It also helped to have players like A.J. Brown,Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter in the next few drafts. And with their 2021 draft pick, they then traded up to 10 instead of waiting and drafted a receiver like Smith. All of this helped build a Super Bowl team that went to the Super Bowl twice after their awful 2020 season.

Sometimes, a bad season can help you have a franchise quarterback; other times, it helps to build the rest of your roster.

Also, it's a shame the Steelers never thought to trade T.J. Watt when they had the chance. I mean, the Seahawks are another example with Russell Wilson. He seemed to be on the decline after 2021 and instead of waiting until it was too late, they decided to trade him for a massive haul (including a first round pick who become the 5th overall pick in 2023), and that helped build a Super Bowl team in 2025.

An elite front office helps a lot, and when you have high draft picks, it pays off for a team.

 

Yup. I've been saying that since early last offseason, that they should have traded him rather than giving him that massive contract.

 

There's a reason why certain franchises don't draft in the top 5-10 very often and its a level of professional excellence that other organizations don't have. It doesn't take a particularly long run of suck to be stuck sucking for a long time. Its hard to get out of the suck too... Teams like the Raiders, Giants, Browns, Jets, etc. draft in the top 5-10 all the time, and don't ever seem to get any better for a sustained period of time. Tanking is dumb. Its not a guarantee to get better, and its a massive risk to the franchise's health long term.

In a vacuum its best to have a top 10 pick every single year you don't win the SB.... Its just not realistic. It technically raises the percentage chance that your draft picks hit by a bit, but there's still no guarantee you don't stay there. Winning is a learned culture, and its something you should strive to do as much as you can every single year. Its a non-starter for me. If one of the salespeople I manage sandbagged a year in order to get a lower budget for the following year, I'd probably fire them on the spot.

 

Don't need to tank every year...Just one or 2 years in the NFL is enough

 

Fine, tanking isn't the right word, but my plan would be to prioritize developing young players over a year or two and collect draft picks by trading some vets with have trade high value(but I think this is too late for that unfortunately) over winning at all costs, with the goal of becoming a great team in the long run.

 

I'm in the C+ to B- range. Wish we would have addressed the d-line a bit more.
