So are you just using the Force to evaluate these guys that you think are good?

This is me. On the freaking fence. I don't care what anyone says . Rodgers is scared to get hit, and will not let a play develop now. Of course it wasn't that way at the very 1st couple of games , and probably won't be in the 1st couple of games this year because the body hasn't been hit in awhile, and he's isn't hurting, but it will raise its ugly head again, but He can impart lots of experience, and understanding of the game to our young Qbs if they pay attention. So I'm on the fence about it.

I keep hearing that AR gives us the best chance to win? Win what? The SB? lol. I guess you have to ask yourself while looking around the league, do I really believe AR can win us a SB. If the answer is no, then he is of no interest to me, and would only be retarding the development of the young guys we've invested in.

And I don't need him around just to teach the younger guys. That's what McCarthy and Arth are here for.Why must we keep going through this s**t? I can't wait for Rooney to retire, the guy is gutless.

You do the impatient part if you’re 100% committed to drafting a QB next year if the season tanks. This is the season to do it.

Murray and Young are immensely more talented than Pavia though. Better arms, better athletes, better stats, etc. It’s not just the height for Pavia. Some guys just are good college players and aren’t cut out to be pros. Pavia is one of those guys.

Most QBs fail, especially the ones not drafted in the first 40 picks of the draft. Some slip through the cracks, but not many. NFL teams suck at drafting QB because QBs have to be overdrafted. There are plenty of QB needy teams and only so many decent QB prospects. Sometimes teams just have to take a shot on potential and hope to develop it.

I think he's trying to use the Force on all of us.

Football games. If the goal is to win the most football games you can in 2026, then you go with Rodgers. There are many reasons to throw a young guy out there, but you have to at least be pretty sure that they have what it takes. Throwing guys out there that aren’t ready is a recipe to lose the team

I mentioned this before but I did my homework

The poster in question joined this board immediately after Mason signed his first contract with the Steelers

    Seriously

Big part of me thinks they should have McCarthy and Rodgers work with Howard and Allar.

Starting Rodgers until one or the other is ready without throwing either one to the wolves

But if/when one is ready then Rodgers steps aside

I’m guessing any conversations with Rodgers turned this way when they drafted Allar

I'm also fine with him coming back this year on this team. He's a placeholder. Rudolph would be a younger, much less accomplished version of that too. As of now, the only possible future starters are Howard and Allar. Neither has taken an NFL snap, and not ready. If I thought there was a starter of the future ready to start today, I'd have a different opinion. For now, any QB who won't poison the water, and in this case there are two guys who have been good mentors for the kids. I'm good until he blocks the path of a young starter who's ready now.

That's actually a really good point about why he started faster than he finished, which also tells us that his struggles aren't entirely about diminishing skills. He still has the amazing arm talent. He just can't take the beatings the way he used to earlier in his career.

I am really at the point where I do not want Rodgers back. What is the upside to him returning? 10-7 or 9-8 and a possible WC spot? Maybe you sneak out another Division Championship? Because if you bring him back to "mentor" Howard and Allar, when do they play? Rodgers will want to play and lead by example. Say you're at 4-4 or 4-5 and within striking distance of the playoffs...do you think Rooney is going to be ok with turning the reins over to a first time starter? Or that Rodgers would willingly step aside? Or veterans like Watt, Hayward, Ramsey, Queen etc will be happy about it?

I don't see anything positive coming out of that, and you"ll be right where we are now...wondering who the starting QB will be again because there won't be enough game time for either young QB and we'll be debating whether AR should come back again after we draft in the 18-21 slot again and still don't have any answers at quarterback.

Let the young guys battle it out and let the chips fall where they may. If they don't pan out and the team stumbles to a top 10 draft pick, so be it. That's the only way to know.
