Now there is a brilliant statement

A guy who hasn’t played a down in the NFL “hasn’t reached his potential”

I wasn’t dogging you, I was pointing out that you were in on Mendoza before most but something backed you off him. We’ll see how he does in the pros but your first impression may have been the correct one.

    I am Aretha Franklin?
    Seriously don’t hate the pick
Allar does have potential to be the best qb in this draft
See if we can coach him up properly

    Gotcha man! :drinks:

As for Mendoza, what made me back off of him was how militaristic Curt Cignetti's system was; very odd considering how adaptable he was at James Madison. That doesn't sound like a whole lot but if the system itself is so rigid, that leaves me with two conclusions; Curt truly loves to operates this offense this way or he possesses a QB that cannot go through their progressions well to do so. Not only did Fernando not take the leap in terms of being a multi read QB like I thought he would, his release time didn't improve nor did his ability to throw the full route tree; often avoiding the MOF. Very odd considering he was ascending in these area's at Cali before the transfer.

Add the fact that he, for whatever reason, got worse at throwing on the move, release time slowed down and he tended to take sacks at a greater rate despite the better Offensive Line told me a lot of what I thought I was supposed to see him get better at, he regressed; some ways far more than others.

Awright, Big Mike was going to draft a QB no matter what and he’s right to do so until we find one. So, uhh, yeah OK

Not to brag but I have been saying all of offseason they should draft Allar with one of their third round picks.
    ;)

I'm not sold on him. At all. When the going got tough, he would disappear.

But he has all of the physical tools. He's young. Maybe he'll outgrow that.

If the Steelers don't draft quarterbacks, they will never find one. My God, all everyone has been bitching about is the team not handling the quarterback situation correctly and sticking old, declining retreads behind center.

Now, they draft a quarterback two years in a row and are trying to find and develop a young quarterback good enough to lead the team for the foreseeable future, and many are complaining about the pick and predicting doom.
