When that pic came out, Lacy took offense to it, and blamed it on a bad camera angle. Lacy was on tv the other day, and he looks like he is in great shape.

It is what it is. Any player can get hurt at any time, new rookie or 12 year vet. The Skins lost their rookie safety, Phillip Thomas to the same injury that Bell has.

TTF put out a list of team injuries, we don't have it so bad, people need to look past their own backyard and stop crying so much over the injuries, its football.

I just hope it's not a lis franc injury that could be a season ender, Santonio Holmes had that last season and still hasn't made it back yet.

No doctor here, but some personal experience:

Some time ago.. (about 13 or 14 years) I played CB/WR/KR at college. I was 21 by then.
My first regular season game at our stadium, I returned the first Kickoff about 45 yards, and then, just when my left toe was my only support as I was going out of bounds, an offensive tacke that weighted about 300 pounds was pushed and fell over my ankle.
Mild lisfranc injury. An absoulte pain, and a big purple bruise from my big toe to my ankle.

I went to 4 different doctors during the next week. 3 of them suggested surgery, meaning I'd lose the entire season (it was a 12 game season).
The other doctor suggested only rest, therapy and some exercise, besides LOSING WEIGHT, in order to make easier my recovery (less weight would mean less effort by that foot during rehab). His forecast: I'd be ready to start practicing by week 5 and to play by week 7.

The first 3 doctors told me that, if I didn't have surgery, that injury could come back sooner or later. But I wanted to play so badly, that I decided not to get surgery.

I was about 5'10 and 170 pounds when I got injured. Dropped about 10 pounds, started practicing 3 weeks later (one week ahead of Schedule) and I was able to play by week 7, again at 170 pounds.

I always felt a Little discomfort, even after that full season. But I was able to finish that season without pain, and without another injury. Then, playing baseball during offseason, my foot was stabbed at 2nd base: Lisfranc.

Saw the same doctor, and he recommended surgery. Saw also one of the other 3 I consulted before, and he had the same opinion, besides "I told you so".... Some screws and 2 nights at the hospital. I fully recovered about 9 months later (started working out about 3 months after surgery, with a very light routine). I was able to play again next season (started practicing week 1, Head Coach told me that I could keep my roster spot if I was able to play at a high level, and did so). Played from week 4 and that full season. Never has bothered me again (I only played that full season after surgery, and since then I've been playing baseball twice a week). No discomfort, pain or injuries again.

As I stated above, no doctor here, but by personal experience I'm seeing here that Bell would be in the same situation I was. And probably that's why they're getting a 2nd opinion, and maybe a 3rd one. Even though, it's probable that science and medicine are now able to heal that injury faster, I keep reading across internet and hearing from friends that, if you don't get surgery, sooner or later you'll get hurt again.

It's a very painfull recovery, and it's common that, when you are young, you only think about playing next week. But sometimes it's better to asume you'll miss some time but fully recover after that.

Either way, I hope Bell's scenario is better, he doesn't need surgery and is able to perform for our Steelers by week 4.

Tomlin just gave an update on Bell's injury-

Categorizing it as a mid foot sprain. He said the linsfranc is involved there, but it wasn't a linsfranc tear like Spaeth suffered, and it won't require surgery. He said they are encouraged about how it's developed over the last 48-72 hours, and he's doing some things without discomfort. Some rehab. things.

When asked, he said he didn't know where the 6-8 week timetable came from, as none of the Dr's told them that. He also said that he didn't have a timetable, and that he "didn't ask" if he'd be able to return by week one.

It defies logic, though Bell just said the same thing about not hearing a timetable. This team is extremely guarded with injury info.

maybe it's just they don't know. bell has never really been injured and they don't know if he's an AP type healer. if they are saying how well it's responded so far maybe he's a quick healer and they just don't know about him. let's hope.

secondly, with the addition of LSH and the pounding of red and the D train, this running back by committee thing could work well.

LSH is a better RB then rainey was. I runs with more control. bang em' with the two horses for a quarter and then make them chase LSH through the line.

this just may work with the way these guys are running. even behind the starters on the o-line they have run fairly well. LSH was a critical pickup for this scheme. he's small and quick with good vision. they have to have the hosses pound them tired first.

Do you guys think that due to Bell's injury, that they will limit LSH's role on Special Teams?
