I wanted Kilgore, Dunker or Pregnon. Everette was not the BPA.

Everette isn't a bad pick at all but yeah I really wanted Pregnon here.

CBs are pretty important. And we've been stop gapping from old guy to old guy for a long time.

Even by traits heavy standards, this pick was a reach. It is quite unusual indeed. On one hand, he possesses legit CB 1 athleticism and physical traits. On the other hand, both forms of coverage he suffers from inconsistency.

For his Zone Coverage, it is clear that the Football IQ nor Instincts have fully caught up. While this doesn't sound so bad as a whole, remember that he has a total of 55 games played; 41 games having started. This isn't ideal; doubly so from an NFL Style Defense like the one Georgia does.

Regarding his man coverage, his hands do not accurately strike into the correct area when performing press. They are too often outside; causing him to grab constantly. This makes him essentially a penalty machine as a Man Corner.

Biggest issue though is off coverage. He has the overall speed to recover with decent acceleration but he opens his hips way too early way too often. Even if he is to be in a sub package role, opposing Offensive Coordinators will pick that apart down by down. Add in the inconsistency of instincts and Daylen Everette is a player who must be played both in specific situations. As odd as this sounds, I would stick him in Zone based principles and have him work more with his eye discipline.

It is going to take some time but there is a legit starting cornerback should the coaching and improvement continue to operate in lockstep. My pro comparison for him was James Bradberry. Thankfully, Daylen is very young and has more of a runway to work with but there is still a lot of work to be done.

    I would give this selection a C-.

He can do both. He is just too inconsistent at this point; doubly so with eye discipline in zone coverage. That said, Zone Coverage is what is best for him as he is way too athletic to ascribe that as a massive hurdle he cannot overcome.

True. That has been the case at another position as well...

This is where coaching can help here. Something the Steelers haven't had for years.

I guess we will have to see. I believe he can do it. If anything, he could very well be a jack of all trades, master of none, across the O-line.

Everett has elite straight line speed, but his downfall is double moves and change of direction... if he faces a sharp route runner he's toast...
For this reason, i believe his ultimate future in the nfl is at S

I hope so. Hopefully the change in position + change in side doesn't take him long to figure out.

A good tackler, played on successful teams at Ga.
