    Another post got me curious.

If you could pick a team that most closely resembles the Steelers in team makeup (solid defense, a sometimes iffy offense), who would that team be? :hmmm:

Ravens have tried to build their franchise as a model of the Steelers.

The team overall that has lately played what we would all consider "Steeler football" is the Seahawks. Their defense will pound you, they can run it down your throat, and their fans are pretty passionate. Sadly another team that reminds me of us is the ratbirds but I think that's because they are clearly built to resemble us.

Interesting, I was thinking the Bears, pretty much hands down.

I'm not sure what you're really asking... If you're saying another team to root for that's one thing...

But if I'm picking a team that reminds me most of the Steelers it'd probably be the Giants. They have a long history of success, ownership is in the family, they have a good defense that relies heavily on their pass rush, a quarterback that's probably underrated but has had a roller coaster of a career, and their seasons are often up and down with them beating a good team one week, and losing to a cellar dweller the next.

Spot on. My wife is a huge Giants fan, and the similarities are abundant.

I was sad when I read SBD's post because I hate the gnats with a passion but I was sad because it's true.

Another team lately is the Chargers because they've had a pretty good defense but they can't protect Rivers, they can't get a rb to replace LT, and their ST are ATROOOOOCIOUS!!!!

I always thought the Texans, great D, an average QB, and they run the ball,,but they get injured too much

The Texans are pretty efficient on offence and they run the ball whenever they feel like it, which is pretty much the opposite of us lately. If you're talking long term, then the Giants and Ravens come to mind.

If you're talking about the Steelers this year, the Ravens and Browns come to mind, because they have good defences but a ton of question marks on offence. I don't see the Seahawks comparison at all, that team is absolutely nasty on defence (something we're not anymore) and they are pretty good offensively, something were not right now

Yeah that's what I was trying to say about the Seahawks is that they NOW play what we have always called Steeler ball but we haven't played that way lately. They remind me of an older Steelers team and that's what I was trying to say. They play awesome d, they can run it like crazy, and their fans are pretty devoted. That sounds like old school Steeler ball to me.

I think the Packer offense is too explosive to draw comparisons to us. They don't have that great of a line though and Rodgers makes a lot of plays outside the pocket. So there's that.

I agree with that assessment but I look at Ben and I see a lot of similarities between him and Favre. I'm going back a ways obviously but they have the same sort of overall style.

The Packers fan base I will include also. Similar to what we have in Pittsburgh. Rabid, Outdoors, and extremely passionate when it comes to winning football.

I'm a bit confused with the question, are we talking past or present Steelers ball?...my answer was when the Steelers we're in their prime with the Bus running..Great D ,,average QB,,and could run the ball....that's the Texans now

Chalk up my vote for the Giants as well. Huge similarities, not only now, but over the past several years.
