Are we past the point of doubting the story that the Steelers were on the phone with Lemon when the Eagles jumped up and stole him away now?

They definitely have their Sh!t backwards

A round peg covers more square area in a square hole than that square peg in a round hole
Which is why it is always best to plant a plant/tree in a square hole because it anchors(roots) itself better than a round hole.

I always read his last name as ( I be an anchor)
let's hope no matter which side he plays

This would make a lot of sense. I doubt that's what our brass is thinking, but I think Troy would be awesome at LG.
But I don't think they'll move him from RT this season.

I think you may see Max on the bench, "learning"... in other words, a 1st round pick who is basically worthless for us this season. Major bummer, IMO, but I doubt he will be deemed ready to play any time soon. Hope I'm wrong.

I hadn't read you admitting you were wrong about that yet. Instead of simply saying that you had admitted as much elsewhere, you decided to make this personal. Interesting choice.

Ok, so maybe Green was a bad example. But, Fautanu was a LT in college and they switched him to RT, and Jones was a LT in college and they switched him to RT as well, then they switched Jones back to LT. If they continue in the same vein, Iheanachor will play at LT at first, then they'll switch him to RT, and switch Fautanu to LT. I mean, when will they just draft a tackle to play the same position he did in college, and stop playing musical chairs with them? I'm getting confused just writing this. Lol.

The thing that gets me is that it is common for teams to talk to players before they draft them, but there is no reason to talk to a player until you are on the clock and ready to draft them and have total control of the situation.

That was quite an amateur hour performance by Khan last night. I don't hate the player, but hate the decision process. Now they have their work cut out to shuffle to O-Line.

Khan better drink a Red Bull and get his head out of you know where for Rounds 2-3. That definitely means not reaching on Carson Beck when you already have a more talented version in Howard on the roster.

Get some draft assets for next year, trade up for Guard, Wide Receiver, and Safety, or here is a novel concept, draft the BEST PLAYER AVAILABLE.

Agreed. Ultimately, it doesn't matter. It looks bad that they didn't get their guy, but it doesn't change the quality of players on their team.

seems like a blunder last night.

you MUST be prepared for your 'guy' to be taken, for someone to JUMP ahead of you and TAKE HIM. you MUST have contingency plans - A, B and C. it is GM'ing 101. Give me the job!

maybe we could not trade back - maybe we tried and could not find a partner. But this seems like we **** the bed.

I had said an hour earlier that for the FIRST TIME in many years, I felt we could take the BPA.

and we did not. it was a FAILURE, it appears.

    a F-up!

There's another prime example of trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. I mean, the Steelers just can't help them themselves.

Easy to say in the moment, but unlike the "would they have drafted Lemon if they had the chance?" news, we don't really know. We know that there was a big run on tackles so the rest of the league is placing a premium more than usual this year.

I just did a quick dive into a bunch (5) mocks from the last couple of days. In each one Fano, Mauigoa, Proctor and Freeling were gone (except in 1 Freeling fell to the Steelers and they picked him).

Miller (Detroit 17) was all over the place both before and after pick 21. Lomu, the OT selected next (New England 28) was always well after Pittsburgh from 27 to 51. Most also had SF going OT at 27.

As for Max, I saw him at 21 (shout out to Field Yates), 2 x 23 to Philadelphia, 27 to the Niners, and one first round mock that didn't have him taken.

We'll have to wait to see if the pick pans out, but IMO if he was their guy (after Lemon) then they had to take him there.

How many decades of ineptitude do they need to see before they realize the Steeler way is long past dead?

I think it is very clear that Lemon was their guy. The story of them being on the phone with him when the Eagles called makes it tough to argue. They settled for reaching for a project when they should have either moved up or taken the stud safety that dropped into their laps.

I agree, that's settled. Maybe I didn't state it clearly. What I was saying is that it is impossible to know the answer to Max being available if the team traded down. It's all speculation.

Unlike the Lemon situation which appears to be very clear.

How do you know he'll be "just fine" at LT?

    He's a project that hasn't played a snap yet.

Absolute clown show from Omar Khan. Farcicakl, 12 picks home town draft and this is what they give us?

Laughing stock org. Philly is making us looking ridiculous.

This is what you get when you're an organisation that is more iterested in "comfort" and "familiarity" than winning.

Coulda moved up, coulda moved down, did neither and ended up with a panic pick project LT.

Oh, ok. Steelers playing musical chairds on the o-line again then, what a **** up they have made of these 1st round tackles so far.

They are used to playing musical chairs. Look at the QB position of late.

I believe that Jones will not play this season so grabbing the tackle after Kahn was owned by Roseman I can understand.

My hope is that Max is a fast learner and can contribute this season.
