Welcome Max. Another year gone where the foolish pundits predict we draft a WR in the first round

I think it's a good pick. Steelers have been sub par in the trenches for years now. It's our 3rd first round OT in 4 years.

Hope they have a QB to protect who is in their age group.

[Rapoport] Steelers were on the phone with Makai Lemon at No. 21 and then the Eagles traded up to No. 20 and selected him.

PHILLY MESSING WITH ME ALL THE TIME:(

    Mixed at best for me.
He has 12 picks and you can't really pick 12 players.
This OT has raw talent, and they talk about a high ceiling, but I think high potential to bust. He's very raw.
I don't disagree with the pick, with Jones being an uncertainty I think they had to go for an OT.
I'd much preferred they'd gone after Mauigoa.

I'm glad they passed on the trade down.
But there's just no suspense to Omar's draft strategy, he has no clue. Just plays a straight hand.
We are going to get whatever players filter down to us and position of need.
Even if trading picks to stock up next year would make some sense.

I kind of admire the Giants who had a desperate need for OT, they took Reese (a blue chip) with the 5th whom they really didn't need.
    Then got Mauigoa at 10.
Dallas (puke) made a good move to get Downs... if you need a Safety - get the best.
I hate Love going to the Cardinals, but it is a good pick.

There's still some good talent on the board and we have 6 pick good picks and some wiggle room to get key players.
I like McNeil-Warren at Safety, he's a good box safety.
I wish they could get Boston the WR.... big guy and maybe a good possession WR.

So, here's to a good day 2. We really need it.

Here’s Max vs. Texas Tech. A very, very good defense with top tier edge rushers. This is good film for a prospect that needs polishing. If you go online you can find other tape of the Texas Tech defense and watch how other RTs fared. Go out and see how the #9 overall pick, Spencer Fano, did against Texas Tech. I posted an analysis of Fano vs. Texas Tech from a YouTuber in another thread earlier in the week, and it was ugly as hell.

Here are Senior Bowl highlights. As I said earlier, I didn’t even know who he was heading into the Senior Bowl, but he was one of my favorite players at the practices. This is really good stuff in the 1v1’s where the defender has the advantage.

Again, I can’t say that I would have made this pick at #21. He was on my radar in more of a trade down scenario where we go down a handful of spots and pick up additional draft capital, but I don’t hate the pick at all. He almost certainly won’t be the top tackle from this draft in the2026 season, but he might be the best one 2 years from now. There is so much to work with there compared to guys who are more polished now, but with limited upside. If he were this raw after playing ball since he was a kid, I’d be a bit concerned, but he started playing in 2022 and more than holds his own vs. top tier talent who have been playing since they were sperm cells.

Didn't real the whole thread, so apologies if this has been posted already.

Former scout Matt Williamson (Scout's Eye) loves the pick and was high on him before the draft (always a good sign).

Loves his athleticism. Acknowledges that he's raw, but also reminds us that he had more college starts than Broderick Jones. Also points out positional value. That we can pick up WRs today.

This assumes that the trade was there at a price that was reasonable.

Yeah, but I don't think it would've cost them too terribly much to move up a couple of spots, but what do I know? I wonder if the Steelers even tried to move up? I mean, they should've, but I doubt if they did.

yet was able to rise to the top of D1 football in a power 5 school go to the senior bowl and look very good amongst some of the best, kill the combine and get picked in the first round of the NFL draft. i'd say how long doesn't matter. results matter.

I am aware that you might think that but in actuality, he could still pull off a really good draft. I just don't think his first step was anything near monumental at all.
Unfortunately, I've had a LOT of experience with terrible GM's during those days in Washington. So, I do have a little logic to my method.
This guy is not great Elvis... really.
He is mid pack and I want him to step up. I don't mind eating my words, in fact that would be great.
There are some good picks left on the table and he has a box full of picks. Find a blue-chip player.

we also never had james campen and jarhi evens coaching. everything doesn't always have to be what it was under MT. my God AV and foster and feiler were a lot more raw than this kid and they turned out pretty well. so did cook that was very raw.

Maybe, but I always trust Andy. If he's a big believer, I'm good with it, despite not liking the process last night.

I don't disagree with the pick.
I sort of thought that if you need a spot like OT, you go get a blue-chip guy.
This one is a little shaky, and little raw but maybe.. just maybe, :smiley1:

I think he can pick up some ground tonight, that is my highest hope.
I also like Andy. I'm in favor of firing or moving Omar to maybe another position there, and letting Andy do the job.

We'll never how how hard they tried.

But we know they knew they could move down. So they explored that possibility. And I'd argue that historically and based on the draft capital we have this year, trading up was more likely than trading down.

So it's hard for me to believe they didn't explore the cost of moving up.

Folks, Omar Kahn is a number cruncher, capologist, bean counter.
    Weidl does player evaluation.Remember this.
