At worst this is an educated guess.

My guess is that every GM who isn't at pick 1 is calling to see what prices are to move up (or at least they should be).

Glazier is probably less connected to our FO now that Tomlin has retired.

But it stands to reason that (1) we should be calling around to see what prices look like to trade up (and down) and (2) we need OL since we don't have entrenched starters at LT and LG.

I think RB for sure (unless there aren't any other good options). Positional value is just too low for a 1st round pick.

WR maybe. We are probably OK for this year at WR1/2. But we need a long term answer for at least one of these spots. Generally, I'd be OK with a WR in rd 1. But it sounds like this year's crop is not many round 1 guys, but a bunch of guys with rd 2 value? That's just from what I've heard / read though. I watch very little NCAA football.

If there is truth to it, then it could be that report about Jones is true and Oline became even more important.

Even if Jones is healthy, we should probably be open to a LT IMO.

We haven't given a 5th year option to anyone who only qualifies for the playing time tier (3rd tier): Edmunds, Bush, Harris, Pickett (may not have reached the playing time tier if he stayed).

Jones doesn't meet the next criteria (probowl for real...not injury replacement). And he wouldn't have reached this tier even if he stayed healthy.

That probably means he woudln't have gotten the option either way.

I think that usually means the player doesn't stay with the team long.

Maybe it's different because LT is a premium position (unlike examples above except Kenny, who was not good). And I tend to think Jones was playing his best ball last year (except maybe right when he was inserted into the lineup at RT?). I wouldn't have hated it if we tried to get an extension with him (not the option).

But I think it was more likely he was off the team in a few years with or without the injury.

Schefter among others are reporting that Francis Mauigoa has a herniated disc that might need surgery down the road. He was a sure fire top 10 pick before this news, I still don't think he'll fall to 21 but if he does wow that would be tempting to take him despite the injury.

As I reported in one of these threads, they said we really didn't need to bring cooper in to meet with since we have two coaches that know him well.

They don't need to draft a pass rusher early in the draft.

I didn't like how they handled the draft process Khan/McCarthy should've got off their ass and attended more pro days, and I would've preferred if they brought in more than two first round receivers. The guys at Steelersdepot also criticized the HC/GM for not attending more than one pro day FWIW.

They should be trying to trade up with the Rams, Bucs, or Cowboys to get Lemon or Vega.

The NFL Network analysts can get so lazy constructing mock drafts. Lance Zuerlein has us trading down to #24 and picking Faulk, the edge guy from Auburn. What tea leaves is he reading? Are we sure they’re actually tea leaves?

And then… Daniel Jeremiah in his live mock draft takes Blake Miller for us at #21, and leaves Ioane on the board for the Chargers at #22. Problem is, Miller is a RT. Unless we’re going to move Fautanu to the left after 2 seasons on the right side, we need a LT.

Fano, but I wouldn't trade up to get him. There should still be a good OT where we sit now.

You have no idea how it was handled behind the scenes or with the scouts, and the draft hasn't even happened yet to judge the "draft process".

Tomlin could do no wrong. Nothing was ever his fault, but Mike McCarthy is blowing it without you having any information to prove that. Got it.

If they have a great draft, you will most likely be screaming into your pillow and crying while staring achingly at your Mike Tomlin poster.
