People on here said Max Crosby was worth two 1st round picks, and yet Watt isn't worth one. LoL. See what I mean about People. Did a Podcaster/reporter/youtuber tell you to think this.

Maxx Crosby is a great player... but not worth two 1st rounders. You and I disagree on Tomlin and the advantages of losing seasons.... but we agree on most everything else.

 

Watt has 1 more sack, and 10 more turnovers than Max Crosby in the last two year, and yet people that would take Crosby think Watt is done. Make that $hit make sense. I guess Watt needs neck tattoos.

 

Watt is fine where he is. Only thing I would recommend is playing Sawyer and Herbig a little more in relief, so Watt can be fresh in the 3rd and 4th quarter when we need him the most.

Watt has been carrying so much of the D for so long that if there’s any drop off the blame goes straight to him. Maybe the other 10 guys need to step up. A 3-11 record without Watt playing is pretty damning

 

We could start with the D line. Harmon is the only one with any promise, but the jury is still out on him. We need another DT/NT and DE. DL is just as inconsistent as the OL.

People say that about Watt because he will be 32 years old this season, you can talk about him facing extra blockers all you want but there's no denying his play has declined.

 

Need to stop being so stinkin fit and come in a fat lard like Woodley so his stores will power him to be the playoff beast Woodley was.

 

While I somewhat agree, the trend recently is that the Steelers are now losing games with Watt playing in them. Is Watt the reason they are losing? Obviously no. But the two stars on defense have repeatedly not shown up in the most important game of the season.

In the WC vs Texans, Woody Marks (who?!) averaged 7 yds/att rushing to Watt's side.

Then you should be able to cite one example. I remember posters saying Crosby is worth more right now than Watt, and I agree with them, but that isn't the same thing.

 

No Im not looking for you. You should be able to look it up. I would suggest using your energy to do that instead of arguing. When have I ever said something was said on here that wasn't said at least by one person? Also If people think Max Crosby is worth more than Watt, and some of those same people think Watt is worth a 1st round pick from someone then this isn't a stretch. Why anyone that would think a player that is almost the same age, has less sacks than the other, and way less turnovers in the last two years than the other is worth more is pretty funny anyway

 

Agree with this. Crosby is a better player than Watt is right now. Watt WAS better than Crosby and Garrett... which is incredible, until last year.

Watt had a down year in 2025. Did Crosby miss any games last year? I don't follow the Raiders, so I don't know. Watt did miss several games.

 

So then why would You think Crosby was the better player??

 

Crosby is younger and he plays 4-3, DE... not 3-4 OLB like Watt. Less mileage, wear and tear. Crosby is the only elite player Raiders have had on defense in a long time... since the dude who left Raiders and went to the Bears years ago... can't remember his name. Watt has played along side some great players in Cam Heyward, Minkah Fitzpatrick and Joe Haden.

Tell me you only watch the Steelers, and whomever we play without telling me. LoL Crosby was just turned down a contract because of his so called medical. He just came off a meniscus tear, and degenerative knee issues. Now tell me who has more wear, and tear

 

Let's see how Watt does this year vs. Crosby. I wouldn't write off Crosby... and at the same time, I don't have a lot of confidence that Watt will return to his '18-'24 form.

 

IMO, this is because most people grade relative to expectations.

Expectations are generally based on past performance.

And for the last two years Watt is clearly much less impactful than peak Watt.

I think a reasonable part of this is due to the fact that our defense has had absolutely no answer to QBs that can throw quickly. So basically every team has their lowest snap to throw time of the season against us.

If we can make opposing QBs hold the ball for another 0.5 - 1.0 seconds, I think Watt's impact goes up a bunch.

I'm hopeful that a change at DC can help this. Along with yet another vet addition at CB (hopefully this one works out^TM)
