Who could be a Trade-Up Target for the steelers?

I wouldn't hate it. Right position and a pretty solid player. I think we can stay put at take Cooper Jr., who I like a touch better, but I like this.

Other targets... Downs, Styles? I don't know who else I would trade up for.

 

I would walk over and jump off the Clemente bridge.

 

From what I am reading there will be no value in trading down, as it sounds like once you clear the Top 10 every NFL team will be wanting to trade down to pick up extra 2nd and 3rd round picks as this is where this draft is said to have the best value.

I see the Steelers trading up to the teens to acquire their O-Line help.

 

I'd rather they wait until 2027 to trade up for the best QB available. Not saying there isn't anyone worth trading up for this year, but it's unlikely they'll do it 2 years in a row.

 

That would be horrible if they traded up for Lemon. He isn't worth multiple draft picks. I find S, NT, OT, ILB and G to be more of a need than WR. We have two starting WRs. Yes, we need more in reserve, but we do not have a NT. As for ILB, Wilson and Queen are not the answer. Queen could be traded away. Who will be the two starting OTs and Gs? They have journeymen(Brisker, Savage, Elliot) at S. We always had one or more great safeties(Shell, Lake, Polamalu) for defense.

The Steelers need all of their picks to rectify the damage caused by Tomlin.

 

It makes me wonder how interested they are in Cooper when they didn't bring him in for a top 30 visit.

 

McCarthy is taking over a 10 win division winning team there is no leftover damage other than not having a QB. I'm not sure drafting a safety or NT in the first round is good value since they have 12 picks.

 

If Tate fell in the draft maybe or trade up for Lemon or Vega.

The current depth chart feels like a patchwork quilt. The offensive line remains suspect, the secondary is mediocre at best, and the inside linebackers are a liability. Meanwhile, the front office has tied up a fortune in an over-the-hill OLB while leaving the NT position vacant. Benson is not a NT.

Watching Tomlin's Steelers was like watching school yard football. They had no identity under Tomlin. One week they triumph over a good team and the next week they fall to a very poor team. Tomlin gave the Steelers the gift of mediocrity.

Trading up at from 21 is a non-starter to me; we can’t afford to burn valuable capital on a class riddled with question marks. Trading down is the smarter play, but if we stay put, I feel
Ioane or McDonald are safe bets to solidify the trenches.

WRs possible available at 21:

Lemon: Lack of speed and separation at the line. Small catch radius.
Tyson: Seems to be a walking injury.
Concepcion: Drop rate.
Boston: Didn't perform well against better competition. Not a burner and has trouble releasing at the line.

This is not to say these WRs cannot be HoFs. They could very well tear it up in the NFL, just as McDonald could flounder. The 1st-round WR class scares me though. Also, I am not a fan of slot WRs in the first round.

I probably won't mind which player they pick at 21 as long as it is not Ty Simpson.

As for this coming season, I don't expect much. I don't see the defense doing well unless they draft some serious talent to make up for an average DC.

 

They can afford to trade up when they have 12 picks, and they likely aren't going to use all of them. They just need a LG and the OL should be fine, they can find their future NT in the later rounds. Any WR they draft early will be WR3 this season no pressure to be WR1 this season.

 

That other than not having a QB though is the elephant in the room. Right now we don't have a starting QB, there are no choices left in free agency and after Mendoza there isn't a quality QB in the draft. The only hope we have of staying afloat is hoping Rodgers returns or Derek Carr comes out of retirement.

 

Lemon or Vega. The rest, let it fall BPA for need.

 

McCarthy didn't seem that worried he said something like this isn't a rebuild but a team coming off of being a division winner, I'm sure they know what Rodgers is going to do it just hasn't been announced yet.

 

Might not be. I just like him better than the guys we brought in. Little bit better than Lemon. A lot better than Boston.

 

I don't like the fact that they only brought in two receivers who are considered first round picks, Lemon is likely to be gone and they might just settle for Boston.

 

Also, Boston is not the type of player we need. He's a slightly slower and slightly thinner version of Pittman and we just inked him to a deal. We could use a slot guy, or someone else who is going to win with separation. Pittman is our reliable WR2 that wins in combat catch situations and moves the chains.

Who knows what we are going to do though... different HC means different possibilities.

 

The O-line is suspect because our 1st rd Left Tacle didnt work out. The rest of the line is very good. Including Anderson at LG. Suspect? No. Can improve? Sure

Secondary is just fine. We have 2 good outside corners, a good albeit agung big nickel/free safety and 2 very good Strong Safeties. Id rank this secondary top 10 as is.

Linebackers will profit from a philosophy change that doesn't expect so much from them. But 6es, its a weak spot. But this doesn't mean a 1st rounder is needed here. Same for NT. Get one in the 3rd. Just don't see the value of spending a 1st on a 2 down D-lineman who wont play against a hurry up offense chasing points or on passing diwns.. Its just bad value in the first rd.

Agreed, trading up will be a waste. For what its worth, its Ioane would probably be the target. Love him too. But would rather not trade up for anyone. But whatever we do, i hope we don't draft a low value position like LB, NT, S, RB or TE. These are just not value positions to waste a 1st rd pick on. And by God, I hope we don't trade up for a player in any of those positions. Dont care how good anyone thinks they project.

Well, Im a KC Concepcion truther. He is probably my #1 player in the mid rounds. I can live with picking a Tackle or Ioane at 21 if Concepcion is available. Im

But a Nose or Safety or LB over Concepcion witl be disappointing.

 

Vega Ioane is very much worth the trade up. Vega is the best pure IOL in the class. There isn't as close of a second.

 

That's why I wanted them to bring in Cooper so he could be an option at #21.

 

If trades happen which I think they will, I am trading for my favorite player in this years draft Deangelo Ponds in 2nd.
He has all the characteristics of a by gone era of Steeler football. will fit perfectly in our defense.

 

I would trade a small sum to get Vega, but I would trade a lot for Mauigoa. If Jones neck is still bad, I would consider tackle Travis Burke Memphis late 3 or 4 if we don't trade. But I would definitely love to see Vega or Mauigoa our first round pick. I may be unrealistic on Mauigoa.

 

omar cooper or monroe freeling or if sadiq drops close then i may move a couple of spots. those are my picks in the first.

 

They brought in 4 guys all with top 15 talent for an official Pre Draft Visit. I will not be surprised at all is they move up to get one of their guys.

2) WR Denzel Boston
3) OG Vega Iona
4) OT Spencer Fano

I still think they will have to get ahead of the Ravens at #14 if they want Fano / Iona.

As it was pointed out yesterday, Khan has never drafted a player in the 1st round that was not a Pre Draft visit. It was funny when they asked Khan about his 20+ years with Pittsburgh, they were having a hard time coming up with a player drafted in the 1st round that was not a pre-draft visit for the last 25 years.
