Injury settlement might be in the works.

They missed on Jones but it happens.

A left tackle has now become a priority.

I like what Dylan Cook brought to the table in a small game size but is he the long term answer? I'm not so sure. A good swing tackle to have around.

Cook played well. Wonder if they will just continue to roll with him until Jones is ready. Unless they get really bad news after hes examined this week.

Could sway them to pick Fano.

wasn't fautanu a LT in college? could this possibly be a chance to move him to LT and then draft a RT at some point as RTs are easier to find?

I think if he goes wire to wire on the PUP, then I think his contract tolls (pauses for a year). If that happens, then he'd still be on the last year of his rookie deal next season.

IIRC, that's what happens to Shazier.

If someone like Kadyn Proctor falls into our laps at #21 we better jump at the chance to take him.

They didn't seem to show that much interest in him I don't think he came in for a visit.

A neck injury could end up being a nagging thing that won't ever go away. Can't have a LT that goes week to week in the NFL. They brought Lomu in. He could be the guy.

Who knows I think Assante Samuel Jr. had a similar injury and he was able to make it back and play, with 12 picks they should try and find a LT for the future though.

No, a player being placed on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list before the season starts does not automatically extend their contract by another year. The player remains under their current contract, but if they remain on PUP into the regular season, they must miss at least the first four games, and the team receives salary cap relief during that time.
    • Active/PUP: Placed on this list during training camp, the player can be activated at any time. They still count against the 53-man roster.
    • Reserve/PUP: If a player is not activated by the final roster cutdown, they move to Reserve/PUP, missing at least the first four games.
    • Contract Impact: The contract does not toll (extend), meaning the year still counts toward the contract's expiration.
    • Salary Impact: While on Reserve/PUP, the player may not be paid their full base salary depending on their contract structure, and they do not count against the 53-man roster limit.

Its a bit confusing but I believe the Shazier situation was a bit different? Maybe i'm wrong.

I believe the rules have changed a few times since Shazier.

    Thanks for the details.

Maybe they have to go PUP --> Reserve PUP --> IR without participating in anything through the season?

It's something that happens so rarely.

    I think that's why Shazier's contract tolled, but I'm sure it's complex.

And why would Schefter remotely have any confidential medical information on Jones

That is not something anyone could release because of and neither the Agent nor Steelers nor Jones would remotely want it released

It would be a violation of HIPPA laws and the penalty is severe

    I’m calling :bscow:

Extrapolating Cook’s limited play into a starting role is tantamount to the posters who wanted to take Rudolph’s last 4 games of 2023 and parlaying that into a starting role

    Nip nap nope

The part you didn’t highlight is a key part of that statement. Whats the point of having depth if you arent going to use it?

If it is only depth then you only use it when you have to

So they are saying Jones will get his head examined. Might they do the same for Khan?

Nah that's too harsh. Khan might overpay for free agents guys added on the cap, and draft his share of busts. However he is grade A on trades.

Pittsburgh did so back during the Combine.

That said, it shouldn't be the deciding factor anyways. Proctor isn't going to be there for OTs like him don't come around often. I would wager $10 USD that Cleveland picks him at 6.

Regarding Broderick, I wasn't confident that the Steelers were going to extend him before the setback for Neck Surgery, doubly so one that deals with nerves, is nothing to mess around with. Now, if the report is to be true (it is Schefter who has become a sensationalist so I will reserve judgment here), not only is Broderick not getting an extension but that also likely forces Pittsburgh to take an OT earlier than they would have liked. Again, the details are scarce and Omar Khan has already been on record in stating that there isn't any new information relating to Broderick's Health.

    Thursday though will decide that.
