Should the Steelers trade for Dexter Lawrence?

While this fits with the "they are in win-now mode and we aren't (because they have a high end QB)", I think it also illustrates why this trade was a silly thing for us to be talking about.

I think pick 10 is too high a price. It's probably good for the Bengals to remember they have to field a defense on Sundays. But I'd rather have a cost controlled presumed stud at pick 10, than an old guy who just saw a huge drop in production.

From a Steelers centric lens, I'd trade TJ for a top 10 pick.

It might be, but would the Bengals have been able to draft a better player than Dexter at #10? Evidently, the Bengals didn't think so. I guess we'll see who's still on the board at #10. It could end up being a good trade for both teams. The Bengals were terrible at stopping the run last year, so Dexter will be a huge upgrade for them. This was an all in move for the Bengals, we'll see if it pays off for them.

And how much are the Bengals going to have to overpay for the contract extension

Myron Cope said it best no less.

Moreover to the point, all this told me is that Cincy is pushing all its chips to the table for Shemar Stewarts development. If he can take that Year Two leap, the trade is worth it given how Dexter will command a tremendous amount of double teams.... provided he is healthy. If not, this will setback the Bengals even further.

Long story short?! High risk, high reward.

Probably close to Will Anderson Jr.'s. He received a three year, $150 Million Dollar deal. So. .. $50 Million a year for him. I suspect that Dexter wants somewhere close to that.
