You're worth what a team is willing to pay you.

This season will say alot about his career going forward. Age and his injury history are not on his side.

Only one edge that i know of stayed at an elite playing level into his 30’s

50 millions per year look big but when the salary cap is at over 300 millions now and it will become higher and higher, this is not that bad.....

As a bonus Anderson's agent Nicole Lynn is one fine looking lady.

According to the Steelers he was, or at least they hoped he would be. Is he actually worth his salary based on his current production level though? Most definitely not.

I think Steeles were between a rock and a hard place with TJ. Face of the team, franchise guy, you never want to deal those guys plus the market for him was probably lukewarm by that time. So they gambled and so far it hasnt paid off.

Anderson however doesnt come close to TJ’s prime, at least TJ had a 22.5 sack season in his belt. I dont get paying Anderson that kind of money. Other GM’s must hate when a GM screws them like that.

I see no reason why TJ couldn't have a better 2026 than 2025 (of course if he stays healthy), and I fully expect that from him. Will TJ return to his prime form though? Probably not. What made TJ such a great pass rusher was his explosive quickness off the line. Once that ability has diminished even a little, you're not going to be the same player that you were before. Father time catches up with everyone eventually, even TJ.

If the Cowboys were willing to give up a 1st round pick for TJ, I'd take that in a heartbeat. Would they be that dumb though? Probably not.

The Steelers will not trade TJ

T J could have signed elsewhere for more money but he did not

He wanted to be a Steelers

The Steelers have enough class to respect that

Anyone suggesting they trade him just doesn’t understand the dynamics of integrity

Houston overpaid for Anderson but it's a short deal for a guy who made All-Pro in his third season, and they aren't paying their franchise QB a big deal yet.

Actually what makes TJ Watt so good is his technique, and motor. There are a lot of guys faster, and quicker off the line, that's exactly why he was the 8th edge rusher taken, and fell to us.

I'll buy that, but TJ has a very quick inside move, along with good hand technique, and motor. There's a lot of other factors that make TJ a great edge rusher as well, like his strength, flexibility to get under blockers, length, instincts, and relentlessness. I expect TJ to bounce back and have a very good year in 2026, I'm just saying that it's a bit unrealistic to expect him to perform at his peak athletic level when he's nearing 32.

He was when his was among the Defensive players of the year.

Compared to DK Metcalf $31,000,000 he is worth it. We really screwed the pooch with that deal.

Let's see how Metcalf does in a new offense first.

One of the better things the steelers can do is find another edge who can wreak havoc and play him opposite TJ. If that guy gets all the attention that might help TJ. Although he was still having trouble with a single blocker near the end of the season. (Highsmith is not that guy). Or have TJ shift to the inside pre snap and pass rush up the middle. Im sure one of Grahams top goals is to get more out of our high priced edge.
